....Requests

Requests, broken links, re-ups and related topics go here. It may be easier for admins to be attentive to these topics if they are put here and not under the individual posts. There's no guarantee that we may be able to respond to everything, but we'll give it a try.

I've deleted the previous 'Requests' post as it was becoming a bit unwieldy.
I shall start the requests with the last one from the previous thread.

Hello! I hope you all have been enjoying the ongoing Riccardo project to re up all of his posts from back in the day. I personally have been working on this for several years and it's going very well. Recently I reupped 32 original Riccardo shares inc some that have been unavailable for a long time.

This is my 2 requests. 1-Does anyone have those Riccardo AEoC posts that the original posts are now missing entirely? I think there are 2 or 3 more in addition to Nevri 79 which is up. Or the other Enrico Rava? Maybe there was another Arthur Blyth and Bill Dixon. I seem to have remembered those. 2-My other request is I would like to be invited to some private blogs, private trackers, dc++ hubs or anywhere I can get access to rare jazz RoIO's. My email is volumeselector@gmail.com

As I said before I won't contribute anymore in any form to this blog or another one but the sad news that you have published Osiris needs a reaction. Tawofiq did an invaluable job of collecting rare and precious recordings from various sources. My taste are oriented in the dhrupad instrumental and he have published some very interesting recordings of Ustad Asad Ali Khan or one of his most recent post, a full concert in the french university "La Sorbonne" of the Dagar Brothers, Zia Mohiuddin who plays bin and Zia Fariduddin who sings. Imagine that the guy who organised this concert around 30 years ago only have a part of this show in his archives. Proof that this blog did a great job.
Thank you Tawfiq.

I'm always surprised to notice an obvious contradiction in the fact that some people have a strong ability to find music on discogs and ask immediately if someone can post it but the same people seems to lose all the intellectual ability to find the way to buy this music. So Mike if you have simply used your search engine you can find this album of David Panton everywhere, here for exemple
https://www.amazon.com/David-Panton-Trio-Some-Cats/dp/B00IXE86ZG
but you also can find it on spotify, apple music etc.
There is also a David Panton store on Bandcamp, this title is not available their but others are on digital format and also on physical copy. Due to the fact that David Panton passed away this year I don't know if the physical Bandcamp store is still active.
Once again it is strange to see how some people can find many music to download for free and never find music in the regular market, perhaps they have some selective search engines that have allergy when it is time to pay.
Mike how many years will you continue to think that we are stupid enough to reply immediately to some request without searching the availability of the title requested?
Can you explain why you know so well how to use Discogs but so bad how to use google search?

mike said...

@correctsilence, You're still here? Why?

Maybe someone can help. I am searching for a lossless rip of Company 2. I do have a rip but it seems it is somehow "distorted" regarding the stereo filed. this is a flac versiom of The Ganelin Trio live in Berlin 1980, but unfortunately is uncomplete compared with the mew23 version, only 39 minutes, I have problems with 1fichier so I couldn't compared them, anyway as I had already uploaded, here it is

@Magogiallo
The difference between the two versions is that on your version the intro and around 9 minutes of the first track are missing, I haven't checked the end but it seems that also some part of the end including outro is missing. The source is also different, the level and dynamic of your version is better than Mew23's version but on your version during around 2 minutes, in the beginning, the music goes from stéréo to mono, several times to finish in stéréo, this is not the case on Mew23's version.

After Ernst update of Walt Dickerson solo concert in Dorchester I was thinking of another performance of Walt Dickerson that could be posted here if someone have it.
This time he is in trio with Andrew Cyrille and Sirone, location unknown but the date is January 28, 1982
It is a good audience recording, two tracks only each one around 30 minutes, if someone have this show it would be great to have it.
Others live of Walt Dickerson are also welcome

Has anyone a recording of a BBC Jazz In Britain broadcast from 1978 by the Louis Moholo Octet featuring Marc Charing, Dudu Pukwana, Keith Tippett, Evan Parker and others? I used to have a recording but the tape has long disintegrated. It featured tunes that appeared on Louis’ Spirits Rejoice album, but in even better versions (Dudu should have been on that!). There is one track on You Tube, a short version of Mongezi’s ‘You Ain’t Gonna Know Me’, but there are 4 other.songs that the YouTuber doesn’t have access to. Anyone able to help?

There is a small problem on the rip of Don't Bother Me by Giorgio Buratti, around ten seconds of the second part of the side a "Crumbling Of A Romantic Idea" the track number 2 on your rip; this track begin in a fade in and comparing to the version posted on youtube by Buratti himself, few seconds are missing on your version. DO you think that you can re-post this title in its full length?

@Trabukko59
Thank you for the Giorgio Buratti - don’t bother me. But unfortunately I think this file comes from youtube Giorgio Buratti’s channel. The cut of each side on your file is done exactly at the same place as it is on Buratti’s version posted ten years ago. I don’t mean that you have taken it from youtube, obviously you told that you don’t own these lp so perhaps the person who gives you those files took them from youtube or another possibility is that this person did the rip used by Giorgio Buratti. I haven’t done a spectral analysis to check if the source is mp3 to be absolutely sure of what I say, a friend will do it in the next days but the fact that the separation in two parts of both sides are done exactly at the same place in the two versions leave almost no doubt about the same source.

trabukko.59 said...

Correct Silence > I am quite surprised, I can only tell you that the reel, like others, has been in my possession for over 10 years and comes from a radio that systematically he recorded every vinyl available. I rip the tracks as they are on the tape ... Let me know about the spectrometric analysis so I can avoid sharing bad material. Regards

trabukko.59 said...

@ magogiallo - Actually I don't know what Mr Fresia's collection is ...

magogiallo said...

@ Trabukko.59, Mr Fresia was the curator for the discography section of I Grandi del Jazz, and many other projects, he worked for all his life for a recording company, forgot which, and worked for a local radio for many of years, he was making reels of all the albums he broadcasted, so I thought these reels could have come from his huge collection, actually I don't know where it ended up.

trabukko.59 said...

@ magogiallo. Ah ok ... I didn't know anything about it. However the reels in my possession come from a local radio that I occasionally collaborated with years ago. I saved the tapes from the landfill, but the content documentation is very poor ...

correct silence said...

@Trabukko59
It took a bit of time but I have the result of the spectral analysis for Giorgio Buratti don't bother me, obviously it is lossless. One thing that is strange is that I'm absolutely sure that it is exactly the same file as the one posted by Giorgio Buratti on his channel, same for I feel sexy. The only difference is that on your source a dolby system have been used to reduce the small noise of a tape. The cut of both sides of "don't bother me" as I said is done at the same place. It should be interesting to know the story of those tapes. Does this radio have recorded all of its lp collection and did it have some relation with Giorgio Buratti. In France I knew a radio who did this at the time the cd was not so popular. Doing radio with lp is horrible, I knew this situation. the lp are too fragile for the speed of the work in a radio so recording them on tapes to protect the source was a solution. But normally since the early 2000 it is possible to record your lp on cdr.

trabukko.59 said...

@ Correct Silence - As I said to magogiallo, the reels in my possession come from a local radio with which I occasionally collaborated years ago (eighties / nineties).
