....Requests

Requests, broken links, re-ups and related topics go here. It may be easier for admins to be attentive to these topics if they are put here and not under the individual posts. There's no guarantee that we may be able to respond to everything, but we'll give it a try.

I've deleted the previous 'Requests' post as it was becoming a bit unwieldy.
I shall start the requests with the last one from the previous thread.

I have the Florence show from June 16, 1980. What a quartet!!!!! Hemphill, Wadud, Dara and Smith thanks to carville over at DIME. Really looking forward to this one.

All of these Hemphill's look worthy of new life and I would be very grateful to hear them.
Thanks for any help. Props to all the usual suspects!!!

@Mike
Some month ago I was about to post the two albums you request by BBFC but after a search of the availability i found that the box set that contains the two albums you request are available for download, this is a link to amazon fr but I suppose that it is available on every amazon. it is the mp3 but perhaps it is also available on lossless at quobuz
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B076CRFS6Z/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp
If you want part of the box set for free you can go to the blog of the magician, he have posted some month ago the Bovard Francioli "Musique" that was originally a double lp but it is also the second cd of the box set that I'm talking about, his post probably comes from the download or from the cd version.
BBFC 1982 1987
It is disappointing if this music is only available on mp3 but even if it is the case I can't post the music.

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

Yes the BBFC releases are available in lossless from Qobuz - for 8,- euro per album.

Just saw the sad news, the passing of Perry Robinson and the great update of the Uni Trio, a superbe and spontaneous recording. There is also a strange single of the Uni trio that makes me feel curious about it. Obviously Mew23 have or had the file, if it can be updated

Hello, I was interested in possibly getting a re-up of the vinyl rip of Paul Bley's MR. JOY that Sotise provided in 2014, in this post:
http://inconstantsol.blogspot.com/2014/08/paul-bley-mr-joy-1968.html
The 1Fichier link is now dead. Chris' rip of this LP is still available in the comments to another Bley album, here:
http://inconstantsol.blogspot.com/2014/03/paul-bley-trio-canada-1968.html
but I wanted to hear how much the sound might differ in Sotise's rip.
Acutally, I'd like to hear Sotise's rip of that second Bley album mentioned above, TRIO CANADA 1968, as well...its link is also dead.

Many thanks if this is possible!

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

HI Billy Budd - did not find Sotise's rip of Mr. Joy. Thought I have it but...

@ Billy Budd,
Sotise's rip of Paul Bley's Mr. Joy is now available again.
The new link for 'Canada 1968' is also just a re-up of the
original file.

Hi - I would need a bit help regarding a translation from Spanish into English (or German ;-)
I know we have also some followers who are native or at least fluent in Spanish.
Got an email a few days ago with the following text:
"¡Hola!

No complete translation is necessary. An overview of what Hector writes would be just fine.
Thanks

It would be great to have a rip of Girl From Martinique even if it is available as download, the download version for sale is a big shit, tracks are shorter than on the original lp, providing a better version won't be illegal but an artistic contribution.

Hello
I'm searching for a clean version of this live by Gary Windo, Robert Wyatt, Ron Mathewson, Dave McRae done for the BBC, here is the version posted on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw2sNGCle84
But the sound have been compressed and it has a real poor quality. Part of this concert have been published on the compilation "Anglo American" by Gary Windo on Cuneiform but around ten minutes is missing on the official version.
So if someone have the full 29 minutes of the concert with a good sound quality it would be great.

@Propylaen2001 what a great offer. I didn't thought that I could get this recording one day, even journalist Aymeric Leroy can't find the full version in his collection. Since two days I was trying to re work the sound of the youtube version, adding trebles, removing bass and can't catch a good sound in comparison to the original extracts, to finally notice that the version on youtube have a different pitch, that is why I couldn't have the same high frequencies... a full time job that is now behind with your help.
Funny thing, in your version there is one missing minute in the end but I have this missing minute on the version provided by Aymeric Leroy, longer than the two tracks published on "anglo american" but shorter than the full version, yours is the most perfect that can be found.
TO change topic I have seen your name in the comment of one cd that I really like: Osiris Featuring Toto Blanke & Charlie Mariano, your comment is on the discogs page.

propylaen2001 said...

@correct silence:
My pleasure! I am really surprised to hear that Aymeric does not have it, or at least could not find it.
I did not listen till the end on YouTube and therefore was not aware that my version was missing a minute at the end. I assumed the time difference was probably due to different speed/pitch. I'd appreciate if you could add the missing minute from Aymeric's version to the one I provided and eventually share the updated version here.

Speaking of the Osiris cd, you made me revisit my comment on Discogs to find out that the link that I posted in 2016 is no longer active. It is now updated.

Does anybody around here have the Osiris cd?

@Propylaen2001 regarding Osiris if you haven't already got in touch with Ernst I have the cd and can send you a rip, I also have a longer version than the official published on Carbon, in fact there is one more track, a duet between Toto Blanke and Joe Sachse. Obviously this version have been made for the musicians only, it is Joe who send me his double cd at the time I couldn't find a copy. At this time I didn't thought asking Ernst if he eventually could provide the contact with the producer.
So you can mail me if you want a rip, except if Ernst have already started to find you a copy.
Regarding WMWM I have completed your version with the missing minute in the end and also the first seconde on the start but I had to adjust the pitch. Your version comes from the BBC broadcast and the version that I have from Aymeric comes from the master (same source as the official recording). The pitch of both version is different and also the mix is slightly different. On the BBC version the drum is more in the middle of the mix, on the master, it is more on the left. I can't do anything for this second point but for the first point I have adjusted the right pitch to stick the end. Now before posting I wonder if I leave the pitch of the BBC or if I adjust the pitch in relation with the master. I will listen to it in the next days and will follow what my ears suggest, after that I will post it on the front page.

Big thanks in advance:).

correct silence said...

@Dahomey
I don't know what can I answer about your request. I have this cdr but normally we never post music that is available for sale and this cd is available directly from Mr Vapirov like almost all of the cd that he have published on his own label ava. But it is not easy to deal with Mr Vapirov due to the fact that he have no personal website and he also have no PayPal account. So when you deal with him you have to use some bank transfer or western union you can also send him money directly in a mail (I did this) even if it is illegal and you take some risk. I think that if you are only interested by this title it is not so interesting to try to deal with him but if you want to take a chance to get others records from him it can be interesting. In that case I can recommend several others records that are really great.
I think that Vapirov doesn't have many sales of his music that is why I don't know what to answer to your request.
Maybe Ernst can help to consider?

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

I would not post a CD which is still available. Especially if the artist himself has still copies for sale. And if Vapirov has not many sales my proposal seems to be even more worth considering.

dahomey said...

It's ok. I thought that this music is unavailable.
Thank You for an answer:).

correct silence said...

I totally agree with the rules of this blog, we must consider that if we want this music to continue the musicians have to win money with the work they do like all of us. In fact one or two years ago I posted an album by Anatoly Vapirov, at this time I didn't have his contact and even never supposed that I could reach him. But after seeing the crazy price of his cdr and cd on discos I thought suddenly that I was in touch with Harry Tavitian and due to the fact that both have played together often, he could make the connection. I have decided to leave the post that I previously made as a sort of introduction to the artist. So for Dahomey and the others followers who are interested here is my list of Vapirov that I can recommend:
-A.P. VAPIROV 60th anniversary
-VAPIROV, TARASOV, VOLKOV, DONCHEV quartet
-ANATOLY VAPIROV QUARTET featuring Tomasz Stanko
-ANATOLY VAPIROV magic water
-VAPIROV PROJECT waltz str.
-VAPIROV & TAVITIAN there’s always a hope
-ANATOLY VAPIROV & VLADIMIR TARASOV skitsi

Hi, It's Francis aka Anon who posted about 200 RoIO's here several years back. is not available on bandcamp and will probably never be. The Bandcamp store is based on what have been reissued on cd from the futura/marge catalogue and this one have never been reissued. It is obviously not in the future program of reissue on lp by the Souffle Continu so a post of this is possible, I have requested it some years ago and if I remember well, Nick had it but perhaps I'm wrong.

Helllo @all,

after searching all the sources I know (including Gunter Hampel himself, who is still very buisy but spend some time in his archives and didn't found a copy) I would ask you guys here, if someone has a copy (reel tape, music cassette ...) of the 1971 Berliner Jazztage performance @ the "Neue Mensa TU".

It was (video)recorded for the "Now Music Night" bei Bayerischer Rundfunk- but never shown on TV (as far as I know). Sender Freies Berlin provided the audio in a radiobroadcast, I think twice in the 70s. Maybe someone taped it and still got it somewhere in his basement.

Gunter Hampel Quintett (Gunter Hampel, Jeanne Lee, Boulou Ferre, Michael Waiwisz, Freddy Grosseye, Sven-Ake Johansson), Berliner Jazztage 1971 @ Neue Mensa TU

The poster sais: Gunter Hampel Group with Jeanne Lee

Thanks in advance for going down to the basement and looking in old boxes with your once taped material.

About Apis by Togashi/Lacy/satoh, there are many new and used copies that are still for sale. I don't know if the label is still in activity but I recommend almost all of the archival recordings of Masahiko Togashi that they have published, some duets with Masayuki Takayanagi or with Yuji Takahashi that are absolutely fantastic.

Colin Green said...

Thanks, I'm aware of those and have them.

I'm a little unclear about the protocol here - is it not appropriate to ask for albums where used copies are available? If so, apologies for my request.

correct silence said...

@Colin Green The rules is not to post material that is still in print or available through download. In that case I don't know if Masahiko Satoh continue to manage his two labels : "BAJ Records" & "Studio Songs". SO I don't know if both of your request are still in print but obviously there is still some stock through various distributors.

Colin Green said...

Thanks for clarifying. Since I could never know for sure if "stock" is available, I'll not make any further requests.

correct silence said...

@Colin Green
Of course yes you can do some request in the future. IN fact I'm very big fan of Masahiko Togashi and was very happy when Masahiko Satoh started his program of reissuing some archival material. Since I'm no longer in touch with Masahiko Satoh I check regularly if there is something new and so I'm aware of what is available or no. Sometimes it is difficult to know what is still in print or no. Even as a contributor I have to check before posting and it happened recently that I posted something that was finally available again through Bandcamp but I didn't checked on this direction. So my suggestion is that you can check a bit through Bandcamp, Discogs or Ebay or Amazon and you will quickly see if something is available or is only in the second hand market.
So your request are welcome here.

yesterday I listened again to the first of the two tapes of CCMC 90 posted by Nick some years back and I enjoyed again very much this music. The mix between the acoustic piano of Michael Snow, the voice of Paul Dutton and the electronic is very interesting and unique. It is very different than the early CCMC but no less fantastic. Hello
I'm searching for a concert by the Art Ensemble Of Chicago, live in Paris October 25, 1976, if someone have it in lossless and can post it, it would be great, thanks in advance.

Nick s said...

correct silence,

I bought sealed copies of the CCMC Lps you are interested in a year or so ago. Unfortunately first part of both sides of both LPs has some surface noise and was a little warped. I have an inexpensive device for copying LPs and did the best I could to clean the copy. What I'm saying is that my copies are probably not up to normal IS standards. With that said, I can put up a couple mediafire links in the next couple days.
I am playing with my grandkids today. Priorities you know.

kinabalu said...

Re. turntables, I would recommend this one:

https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/debut-carbon-dc/

or some other player in the debut series which offers good quality at reasonable prices. I have a debut III which does the job. No need to splash out for the high end gear.

Re. Art Ensemble in Paris 1976: I have two separate downloads of that concert. I have to check whether they are identical or not. I'll get back to you.

kinabalu said...

Identical they are. So here is one of them:

@Rev Bighig
It is not a question of money if I don't have a turn table, or to be clear it is a question of money but not in the way that one can imagine. I used to have a turn table some years ago with a big lp collection but I was spending thousands and thousands euros buying original blue note, prestige, riverside or very rare free jazz, no matter if the price was high and even crazy. I became a junky and my financial situation became more and more dangerous so the only medicine was to sell the turn table and all the lp. I won't buy again a turn table because I know myself to well...
@Nick S Your offer is interesting. I suppose that if you bought sealed copies it might be a problem of pressing and most if not all the others copies have the same problem or it can be the storage conditions. If you want you can send me directly the links at my email address or post the links here depending on what ernst's opinion.
@Kinabalu
thanks a lot for the AEC, the sound is very good and it is surely my favorite period of the AEC. I Still have some friends who meet them in Paris at this time.

I don't regret anything about this period. You know when it start to be dangerous for your family because you spend all the money in this, it is not suitable situation. I also have seen so many stupid attitudes like for exemple two guys who were starting to fight physically because each one pretend that he have seen the first an original of Eric Dolphy on new jazz. A guy who was shouting like a crazy man because he have found for 50 euros the lp of Duke Jordan on vogue and he will sell it for 1500 euros in Japan. I haven't checked but I'm sure that he had an erection.
At one point it is no more a question of music but a sort of fetishism. Some people were no more talking about music but of the address written on the record, is it a 47 west, is it a Lexington, does it have a deep groove or no, is it flat or no...
For the question of sound it is not always true that the original lp have the best sound. it is mostly true for the blue note, particularly the ones that are in mono, it is also true for the prestige. But for exemple, many new jazz were not good pressing quality, same for some atlantic, I don't talk about all the catalogue of those records companies of course. Many verve have also a problem of dynamic and sometimes also a problem of pressing with some surface noise even when you find a clean copy. I think that I've been mostly impressed by the sound of the contemporary. What is interesting is that the blue note have a better sound in mono and the contemporary in stereo, each one was losing a bit of dynamic in the opposit version. In the free jazz many Byg have not good sound and very bad pressing. If you consider the french catalogue of the post bop like some barclay or vogue, it is also not so easy to find some good pressing if you search absolutely the original. I know the guy of sam records who reissue some titles and his reissues have a really better quality. I think that the Japanese lp reissues of the seventies are probably the best standard quality in term of sound and price.

HI! I was wondering if anyone here has the Sun Ra Ahateauvallon August 24/25 1976 recordings. I have heard they are fantastic but have been unable to find them. Thanks for your time!

Hello,

Would it be possible to get an alternate (Zippy, MediaFire, ADrive) link for NDR Workshop 70 - Jet Set From Bangkok? I've been having difficulty with getting the download to complete on 1fichier.

Thank you so much.

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

@Solomon,

perhaps I have two ideas how you would be able to download the files.

First you could add a VPN to your browser. This one is for free and as far as I know a reliable add-on. No problems on my side so far!
It helps me in most cases to download from websites previously unavailable for me.
https://touchvpn.net/

Or you could use a proxy-site. Haven't checked it for myself but I know some friends and acquaintances who used it and it worked.
https://www.proxysite.com/

Otherwise someone else might have time for a reup to another file hoster.

Solomon said...

Thank you Ernst.

I don't have any issues accessing the download. The problem I'm having is, I will start the download and it will get to 20-50%, sometimes almost fully complete, and 1fichier suddenly has a server crash and the download fails. Then I have to wait a couple hours until the timer is gone to reattempt the download. It seems I have to get lucky and not get the server problem.

It's something odd about 1fichier. Sometimes I get an incredible connection and could download 500mb files in seconds. But it consistently fails downloading almost every download. Usually, I just keep trying until I get lucky, which normally happens after 2-3 attempts. But this one (NDR 70) seems odd. It's a slower download speed than normal and I can't seem to finish downloading. I've tried a dozen times already over the past few days.

Either way, I appreciate the help. The music I've been able to get from you and the others that contribute to this wonderful blog is incredible. I'm very grateful!

And since Reel is now defunct, here is another one from that label that would be great to see here:

There are five copies of Splinter for sale at discogs, the first one is for 10 euros

Personally I won't post cd that are available for so low price, it is the same for Command All star, people who are not ready to spend around 10 euros for one physical cd are not really interested by music in my opinion.

please if anyone have it and can upload i will apreciate

@Solomon
I wonder if "the world of Stomu Yamash'ta 1 and 2" are in fact the same as "Percussion Recital" but in audiophile version so the original lp could have been split in two parts, not sure about it so if someone have more informations they are welcome.

I was wondering if anyone had a rip of the Rick Rozie / Lee Rozie / Rashied Ali LP "Afro Algonquin". Someone posted a link in the "What a long, strange trip..." post a few years ago, but the link has expired. I love the live set posted here already, and I've been trying to find a rip on the internet ever since, with no luck. If anyone has it, I sure would appreciate an upload/link. Thanks again!

Once again Mew23 many many thanks, I really like your answers to my request. I also like much Douglas Ewart that haven't made many records. In fact this concert have never been officially released, only a very small part of it can be heard on the cd velvet Fire, it is the title George Bush#
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Douglas-Ewart-Velvet-Fire-Dedicated-to-Baba-Fred-Anderson/release/9257828
The booklet said that all the material have been recorded in Chicago but if you compare this track and the part that can be heard on the live posted by Filbert, it is exactly the same title, even Ewart sing exactly in the same way, difficult to imagine that the band have reproduced exactly the same title in different concerts.
