Fred Anderson - Another Place

vinyl rip, 320 mp3, Moers Music

Number 5 from I Forgot Clifford. I had 4 Moers posts and this was the most popular. This is a great band for Fred and has a bit more jump than some of his Chicago recordings.

Fred Anderson - ts
Billy Brimfield - tpt
George Lewis - tb
Brian Smith - bass
Hamid Drake - drums

Moers Festival 1978

I don't know if it has more jump but, all in all, it's one of its weakest album. I was at the concert, at this edition of the Moers Festival. Fred was the only musician from AACM who had never been in Europe befor. So I had great expectation but was already disapponted by the concert like most of the crowd. Like we use to say at that time "to soft, we have heard lot better by European musicians". We were a little bit stuborn at that time. But aniway when the record came out, I bought it because sometime what you considered to have been a not very interesting concert can sound very different on LP and change your vision of what you've heard. But not this time. Happy to have seen Fred in his clud the Velvet Lounge some years ago and find some sublime records by him. He is one of the great but not on this one IMHO. PLM

it may be worth noting that the original LP mis-titled the second track on the A side. the piece is actually "dark day" not "the bull".
regardless, thanks for posting this!
