wow! Many thanks Ernst, I have just downloaded and just listened the beginning but the sound seems great and the line up is really exciting. One funny thing is that sometimes I go to Ris Orangis for doing bicycle.

This would have been a fun concert to be at. M. Portal enthusiasts may know the names of the various sections/pieces in the 1 1/4 hr main track here? In any case, a lot of territory is covered and really good sound - much better than you might expect from a New Years concert in 1976 .
Thank you.

This concert is a part of a global show (called "Jazz night in Ris Orangis"), and the different bands must have played on stage, alternatively .. that's why you can here several cuts in the main track. Tamia is only heard on the first track and never after .. not sure that Bernard Vitet plays a lot, here .. more information can be found here : https://catalogue.ina.fr/doc/TV-RADIO/PH_PHD99276532/nuit-du-jazz-a-ris-orangis-concerts-du-31-decembre-1976?rang=2

There are several mysteries about this recording. The second track have been edited and there are several gaps, but what is missing? Some music? Some applauses? Or nothing? It is possible that the track have been separated in to sections for a radio broadcast. I have personally gathered all the pieces and it seems coherent. But there are others mysteries. In the last section of the second track we can hear one and even two flutists, but on the musician's listing, no musician is supposed to play flute. I have never heard Michel Portal playing flute. In the end of the last track we also can hear a guitar, but there is no guitarist credited. So I suppose that perhaps some occasional musicians joined the band during the concert for some small moments.
Anyway, it is a superbe concert at the time when Portal's music was very exciting.
