this post drives me to play my own copy of this cd that I haven't listened since a long time, maybe several years. I re-discover how much the music on this cd is incredible. Sometimes it might appear not interesting to compare two records even if obviously they have the same idea but the Bardo State Orchestra is really stronger than Shomyo in the way that on the Bardo the musicians goes deeper in the meeting. it is not like in Shomyo a simple superposition between monks chanting and musicians. On the Bardo album, the jazz is really influenced by the Buddhist orchestration. The reason might be maybe the fact that Ken Hyder at this time was very interested by the Buddhist philosophy and the question of ritualistic in the music.

I got this jewel on CD. Do you also have their first album, without monks, Ernst? I am interested to hear it.
