Don Cherry-Togetherness 1965 (Inner City Vers 1976)

I don't imagine that there are many fans of this music who don't have this indispensable minor masterpiece  by,one of the greatest bands of their day.... it is as far as i know out of print , although if memory serves  it has been bootlegged on CD.

A live Parisian recording of dubious provenance  originally released on the Italian Durian label ,  this predates  THE  marvelous Symphony for improvisers , on which Cherry employed an expanded version of this basic quintet...With Ed Blackwell Cherry's friend and favourite drummer instead of Romano who plays on this.
superb music in less than high fidelity  .
ENJOY!!..

PS- i'm posting it by way of experimenting with a suitable file host  since quite a few people are struggling to use Mega.... basically this upload is a shot in the dark .

i would appreciate any feedback relating to the accessibility of  Mixturecloud

How the heck does this server work !! Zippyshare mega anything but this .

softnucleus said...

The new server is OK! Only to wait 50 seconds. Thank you!

Works fine (and so do RS, Mega, Zippy or anything else one cares to mention). Oh and thanks!

I can't download...keep making me pay for an account with Mixture cloud with no free download option

Anonymous said...

Any other links RS etc would be welcome

Had no trouble with mixturecloud via Jdownloader, except the speed leapt up and down alarmingly. Then again I've had no trouble with Mega or RS either. Anything without captcha is a plus. And, thanks!

Thanks Sotise. Nice to have a "travel" copy of this, and my vinyl copy is much worn... a 50 second wait to download was not too bad, and the speed was fine. Thanks again.

Mega works with Chrome but not IE
it is very fast and doesn't waste your time

what ,Anon i presume you mean all precious 50 seconds?

I just waited the 50 seconds hit download and they want you to buy a basic or unlimited account to download .

Dear Sotise, This link worked fine..Yes yes I did spend a little time getting hooked up with MC but thats nothing compared to your kindness and efforts in sharing this gem..Regards the music: This is a musical period that holds particular interest for me..I was kinda brought up on the Blue Note '65 'Complete Communion' date when it comes to D Cherry so this post is prime time..And somehow I seemed to have missed out on it..Many thanks.

First, thanks for posting this great album.
BUT,have the same problem as It's all tunes... Don't mind the 50 second wait but it never downloads; just goes to a screen inviting an account. I'm using Chrome.
How do you down load it?

agmosk said...

Never mind! It finally downloaded! 4th try!

I have this group (w. J.F. jenny Clarke on bass)on Live at The Montmartre, Vol.1 on Magnetic. have never seen Vol. 2.

Thanks again!

I´m glad finally I have found this. Thank you very much Sotise. I had just side A in a LP from a collection entitled "Los Grandes del Jazz", which had part of some Albert Ayler concert from 1966 in side B. It´s a lot of time since I don´t listen to the music, but I remember it very well. It was my first exposure to these musicians, and I was really impressed (damn, it was more of 30 years ago!).

This is a wonky download server after several tries it finally worked thanks

Finally got it to work, needed to update Flash in Firefox because the directions read: "Please watch the entire video to download the file below for free." I couldn't watch the movie/commercial until Flash was updated, then worked easily. Thanks, saw a version of this band with Pharoah in the late '60s.

It puzzles me why people should have problems downloading this file. I thought it might be a browser issue, so I tested the link using four different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari) on a desktop machine running Windows 7. All four browsers work fine. That said, I haven't tested the link on earlier Windows OS or on Mac OSX.

kinabalu said...

By the say, saying that it works fine means that you have a free download option and do not have to sign up or register in any way (with a price tag or without).

Thanks, didn't even know this exists!

agmosk there are 3 volumes, now on ESP disk.

SOTISE said...

thanks for the feedback K... from the uploaders end its 30gb storage for free with a basic non paying signed in account...
there is no info on the site about how long files last , whether downloaders need a free account , nada

well, it worked the first time I tried, people, it takes half a second to chose between "download" and "download for free". It was just too obvious I want it for free, there is two options, right under your noses, just hit the right one and don't come complaining that they ask for a payment if you didn't picked the free options...dah...

agmosk said...

@Sotise-Thanks-That's good to know. I will look for them.

It is asking to open an account. So stupid I don't wanna bother. Really, Sotise, I don't get it - if you want to share, share it.

kinabalu said...

@anon: It is NOT!! Please read the above comments.

Can't download. Sorry to pass on this one. Anybody willing to post it with some normal provider?

E-mile said...

also adrive or even hotfile is a good host (for as long as it lasts!)
can't wait to give this a spin, thanks.

E-mile said...

BUT! indeed I can't seem to get the download to work on the mixturecloud thing......please use a different uploading service, imo this one reaaly sucks

matt w said...

Thanks for the album! I had no problem with the download on Macintosh Firefox -- I watched the video and waited for the download link to post. (I don't have a special pop-up blocker, so I wonder if some pop-up blockers were keeping the video from playing.)

Hi Sotise
thanks for this post.
Hoster works just fine, also with JD.
Have to wait 50s, but what the heck.. (people getting spoiled).
Btw. also have / had problems with Mega, could not even install Chrome (don't know what went wrong). So, I really appreciate this alternative !

Complete Communion is one of my favorite albums of all time and I love Symphony for Improvisors too. Somehow this one's escaped my attention until now. Can't wait to hear it, thanks!
