Indeed there are some reasonably priced copies, but now that it is there for free these copies will stay for a long time on discogs because why pay the music when you can get it for free. In this case this post does not disadvantage anyone since the label no longer exists but it is the same for the records that are currently released because there are other blogs that post titles available and sometimes even titles that just come to get out. Recently a musician told me "we no more publish records to sell them but for the media to talk about us. The music-lovers who spent hours in the record stores have been replaced by vultures 2.0, scavengers who greedily eat the corpse of the record industry. This is why I personally will contribute less and less because contempt has replaced the desire to share.

Thanks for this, miloo.

I expected your reaction, correct silence. And I must say you are out of reality in few topics. Firstly, you expecting all jazz lovers and possible buyers being IS readers. Secondly, when album is out of print or commercialy unavailabe, then copies for sale on discogs, amazon, eBay or anywhere else are second hand items, thus label received their wanted amount from selling price, as well as artists already received their posible royalties from sold copy. And for third, I believe there are still people who prefer physical medium, if it is available for reasonable price. So far I am not sympathizing with your attempts to protect music industry, artists and re-sellers. Finally, be sure that many albums shared here on IS are available as second hands items on discogs or anywhere else.
Ad addendum, I think your judgements about other blogs regarding posting available music or 'fake' lossless files doesn't belong here.
P.S.: I already find a copy of Sophia Domancich solo on Gimini label I asked you to help with, so just letting you know. I was thinking about posting it here, but some copies appeared on French Amazon, so I am putting it on hold for now.
Peace to all beings.

You remain a very angry soul Mr Silence. A hypocrite as well, since I've seen you 'rob the artists' by offereing their music for free on many occasions. your outrages remains meaningless. Peace upon you my loving brother.

Beyond following music blogs, I for one buy and own all the music I enjoy that I can find for sale, but that would't matter to you, would it social warrior?!?

Much appreciated

No Miloo neither the artist, nor his assigns nor the publisher get money, in case of second hand record sales it is the same for all the objects sold in the second hand market. Of course there are still honest people with an ethics who continue to buy records but we are fewer and fewer, you have not heard about the record crisis? If you know some musicians ask them how many copies they sell when they publish a record. In most cases the meager amounts that the labels can recover are hardly used to finance the next production. This summer Nobusinessrecords proposed lower prices on its catalog to be able to finance its next titles and in France two labels have stopped this year: »improvising being" and ayler records ". Ten years ago downtownmusicgallery could order up to 25 copies of the same title from a distributor, today they often take less than ten and sometimes even just five.
Again I have no problem with your post since this record is no longer available but writing that this disc is for sale on discogs for a reasonable price is in my opinion to be naive.
Being followed by people who are able to ask to post a disc they can buy for 15 euros, ie begging shows a real change in mentalities and not at all in the right direction. I consider that to post marginal music as we do is in a sense a political act in the sense that we spread a kind of counterculture that has a link with an alternative thought.
But today this is what makes up our microcosm:
- blogs like awesome that post new releases in high quantity without any editorial creativity
- followers who for many do not buy any more music
- bloggers who have serious narcissistic problems and who go so far as to ask the followers to write to them to obtain the download link of their precious music.
In this regard for all those who submitted to the requirement of Mr Perspective and who wrote to him to obtain the download link of his last podcast, that is to say that they prostrated on their knees in front of him; The next time Mr. Perspective regresses to the anal stage and have troubles to expel his big present, instead of rushing to let him know he's important, wait for him to take a drug. which will unblock his sphincters. If no one writes to him, sooner or later he will publish his link directly and you will get it without lowering yourself to his narcissistic demands.

@Rev. B
You accuse me of stealing the artists by offering their music for free, for me to steal an artist it is to provide music which is still in print. So I ask you to prove here what you say by finding in all the posts I made, a title that would still be in print, if you are not able to provide this proof we will be obliged to conclude that you are a liar.
By the way you're wrong, I'm not angry, I describe a reality that you have the right to ignore, and then if I was angry what would it be a problem? So we would not have the right to be angry anymore? The only acceptable attitude would therefore be passive bliss and submission to mediocrity?
When I speak of mediocrity this is not intended for Miloo contributions that are perfectly respectable, I talk of course of the points described in my previous comment.

@miloo2 Correct Silence, or someone using that handle showed up at ADSoB's R&C page a while back making then same endless whining sounds. I don't know if he was subsequently blocked or gave up in disgust, but we've been pleasantly deprived of his company since. I later saw the same handle show up here on IS. However, that user seems balanced, well intentioned, of good spirit and occasionally sharing music. As this CS seemed far removed from the troll I'd seen elsewhere, I bit my tongue and thanked him a least a couple of times for things he posted. Now either he has had yet another break with reality or the troll has once again highjacked the handle as that handle is again spewing the same mean-spirited drivel. *sigh* I see he's flamed us both. I haven't read his screed and as he doesn't warrant rational opposition, I don't plan to. The hypocrisy of his complaints about sharing music on a music blog he frequents doesn't warrant my attention either. In any case, thank you for the post. I’ve purchased more of my fair share of releases by these fantastic players, probably more than CS ever will, and I’ll continue to. Fortunately I’ve recently been able to bypass the very industry CS champions which has rarely given the performers their fair cut and purchase releases directly from Keith Tippett, so there Incorrect Static!

@Rev B
First of all I notice that you are not able to bring the proof of your previous assertions in the fact that I would steal artists by posting their music. So you seem to be part of this sort of people who take advantage of the anonymity that allows the Internet, wallowing in false statements by making the brilliant demonstration of their badly intellectual honesty and fact of their lack of intellectual scope. So I ask you again to bring me here one of my posts that would have stollen an artist because this post would be a title in print
Moreover, if like you say, you buy music, I wonder why you feel concerned by my accusations?
Finally, do you really realize how far down you are leading this discussion by claiming that you probably buy more records than me? Will the next step be comparing the length of our two penis or knowing which of us is pissing the furthest?
But in fact you're giving me extra motivation to stop actively participating in this microcosm. It's been a while since I'm less and less motivated to post here but I continue because I have a deep respect for those who animate this blog and who animated it in the past. Nevertheless, when I read what you are able to write and I know that others in large numbers could write the same thing or even worse it really pushes me to leave the place.
In addition you refresh my memory by remembering this distressing blog that was adsob and pathetic fair that was the forum r & c.

I can't help thinking that CS is not being entirely consistent here. CS writes earlier in this thread:

"Indeed there are some reasonably priced copies, but now that it is there for free these copies will stay for a long time on discogs because why pay the music when you can get it for free."

The gist as I see it is that it's better to purchase copies from discogs than to post it here for free, disregarding the fact the item posted must in all likelihood have been purchased by the poster or by somebody else.

But consider this post from CS in the requests section on 6 September:

"Here is a couple of request in lossless if someone can provide:
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Mit-Knoten/release/1312445
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Werner-Lüdi-Sunnymoon-Lunatico/release/2464105
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Werner-Lüdi-Sunnymoon-Serendipity/release/1712870
thanks in advance.

I checked all three items on Discogs, and indeed, copies are available starting at 10, 27 and 13 Euro respectively. Now, if CS were entirely consistent, the obvious thing would be to purchase copies rather than requesting posts of these items here at no cost to CS.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against requests as long as they concern items that are not obtainable through normal channels, these days including streaming services and online services like Itunes.

On the wider issues raised by CS, I'm afraid thare's not much we can do about it on this blog. What we can do is to make announcements about new releases and perhaps write a brief review of items we have bought and would like to promote.

I think that many of the most valuable contributions to IS over the years have come from Riccardo and his intrepid taping of live concerts which otherwise would only have stuck in the memory of the concert goers.

@Kinabalu
The reason why I have requested those 3 lps is simple, I don't have no more turn table and don't want to buy one due to the fact that when I had a turn table some years ago, I spend money for buying original lps and rare stuffs in a crazy way that you can't imagine at a point that my financial situation was becoming more and more critical. The only medicine I found is to sell my turn table. If you have noticed my three request you have certainly noticed that those 3 ones have never been reissued on cd. You can add a fourth one in your comment, CCMC live that I have requested today and that is also available for an acceptable price and that I can't buy for the same reason.
I think that almost all the people have a cd player particularly if we consider that almost all the computers have also a cd player but not all the people still have a turn table. That is also why I think that reissues on lp should also be available on download if not on cd.
That is why I consider that request of lps out of print even when you can find them for a reasonable price are more acceptable than same request of cd.
If you find me cd or download versions of the titles I have requested, I'm ready to pay for them and if you own some of the lps that I have requested and you can transfer them on digital I'm also ready to give you money for the job.

I like your reasoning, CS. Some people don't have turntables; some people don't have CD players.

Hence, it should all be worth posting here, whether it's being sold on Discog or not.

Ha...Ha...Ha...what a scorched wretch. Poor squirm. The French would say "la misère humaine" (I mean your shitty character). You are a sick, you are completely obsessed with malice and envy. It's time to fuck off this blog, you turned it into a gossip column. Nobody talks about music here anymore. They laugh at you. And besides, you're a rotten hypocrite and pathological liar.

CS, interesting story, sounds like something out of Ulysses and the Sirens, but it doesn't invalidate my point. It is inconsistent to criticise people for requesting something for free which they otherwise could have bought while at the same time requesting something for free that you otherwise could have bought. It makes no difference in principle whether it is on lp or cd or cassette or other format. I note that you may be willing to pay for such services, but putting requests here means that you are at least aware that we don't charge followers of this blog for our services which are not at all free as we may have to pay for cloud storage.

If we were to follow your example, we wouldn't be able to post any lp here which, as you know, requires a record player. And with vinyl on the rise, there is no guarantee that new releases or reissues will necessarily be on cd. Cd sales are dropping anyway. For my own sake, I have even got myself a new cassette player. Some of the real underground stuff is only on cassettes which can fetch skyhigh prices on the second hand market. So my advice would be: get a record player, but be selective in what you buy and keep a watchful eye on the wallet!

@Mike
I think that more people have cd players than turn table due to the fact that even if you don’t have no more individual cd players, almost all the computers have cd players and due to the fact that a computer is needed to come here…
@Kinabalu
I just mean that paying for music is not a problem for me. My purpose was to say that we can’t refuse to see the evidence in the fact that even if inconstant sol provide music that is no more in print, this blog participate in the fact that less and less people want to pay for music. The value of the contributions made here is more appreciated in the fact that they are accessible for free than for their historical value.
I don’t know if some of you are in touch with musicians or records companies and independent labels, it is my case and the reality of the free jazz is more and more dramatic. Of course this music will survive because there is always be musicians to play it but just one exemple: some month ago Joe McPhee was in Paris in concert, there was around 50 people in the place.
@Anonymous
Both of us know that you won’t fuck off this blog because both of us know that you are like hundreds and hundreds of people who follow this blog, very happy to get music for free. Sure you will continue to follow this blog. What is the most interesting in your message is in fact your name, if I were you, i mean able of such a contribution I would also have chosen to stay anonymous.
Can you tell me what kind of contribution you have made here in the past, what music have you shared, how many times have you answered in some re-up request?
In french for someone who doesn’t give his name we say : faux cul, minable, lâche » you can choose the word that describe you the best.
By the way this will be my last message and you won’t hear about me no more, long life to this blog i stop to contribute.
