I've just about run out of my own recordings to post; those I'm allowed to anyway. So I'm hitting on the exchanges. These are both from Gus. The Oxley BBC broadcast has plenty of pops but I know you like him. Gus' own cassette recording at Bracknell is pop free and fantastic, with Larry Stabbins having plenty of space to shine. I was confused initially; Gus had 'Stabbins.Mattos.Durrant.Genocky' written down and I assumed it was Phil Durrant. I googled Bracknell Jazz Festivals and the programme for 1981 listed a Jake Durrant who I'm afraid I hadn't heard of (or thought I hadn't). Eventually I came across an entry for Jake Durrant playing electric bass with Trevor Watts' band around the same time. I'd thought if it was Phil Durrant, he was being especially quiet, though I thought I was catching tiny snippets of violin. Also it seemed as though Marcio Mattos was playing a LOT. Anyway I listened again with the bass guitar clue and all made sense - I'm assuming Marcio was playing cello. Anyway, enough, closer listening paid it's rewards and I think it's a pretty great improvisation which I hope you can enjoy too. Thanks to Gus.

Very good post, my appreciation goes particularly to the second band who has never officially recorded and I didn't know this band. if some others recordings exists they will be welcome, the combination between the elb and the cello is particularly interesting. it is also very interesting to consider that almost at the same time Larry Stabbins was member of week end and later working week, with who he had also a lot of fun, a very versatile musician, probably a true musician in fact.

@Andy
It seems that you are very introduced in the british jazz since a long time. Do you eventually have some connections with the family of David Panton who passed away more than one year ago. Some of his music is still available for download on Bandcamp but I would like to know if there is a way to get the cdr versions of those recordings if there are some copies still in stock somewhere.

@Correct silence. I’m sorry, i never knew, saw, or even heard David Panton. I see there is quite a bit on his bandcamp site. I’ll make some enquires as to whether there are any cdrs available.

@Andy
I discovered David Panton not so long ago, maybe one year ago when I was searching for others recordings by percussionist Roy Ashbury. I discovered a band where he used to play named Cristal Palace and the only recording of this band have been firstly published by David Panton's label and reissued on cdr by the same label. So I searched more and discovered the music of Panton. Finding cdr will be very difficult because obviously he made cdr only on demand, if you have no result I will buy some download on bandcamp.

This link doesn't work for me. Any chance of a re-up?

Try it again. I think something was up with ADrive last night but it's ok now.

Hi, it's been some time since I downloaded this. Thanks Andy.

I just found out that the Tony Oxley performance actually is from the first night of the 5th Bracknell Jazz Festival 1979. The full programme can be seen at https://jazzinbritain.wordpress.com/bracknell-jazz-festival-1975-1979/ (scroll down to 1979).
The Stabbins/Mattos/Durant/Genockey performance is from 7th edition of the festival in 1981.

This link doesn't seem to work and I've never heard this stuff. If the link doesn't work any more I'd really appreciate getting a copy some other way if that's possible.

Hi Larry. The link does work. If you can't get it to work for you give Dunmall a ring and ask him to get me to post you a cdr, or whatever. All the best, Andy.

Thanks Andy I've got it working now . Operator error I think!
I'm knocked out to discover this blog and find so much stuff , and so much stuff of mine that I hardly remember.
I'm trawling through my home collection at the moment and there are things you might be interetsed in.
I think I've worked out which Andy you are but I'll check with Dunmall for a contact.

All the Best
Larry
