Volume 2 is "Danke" with Kazutoki Umezu on reeds etc and Yoriyuki Harada on piano. It's good too, but you can still get it on CD from

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp

whereas I've never seen Volume 1 on cd.

I used to own an absolutely beautiful Hozan Yamamoto LP with Masabumi Kikuchi and Gary Peacock (his name misspelled on the cover), the name of which I can't recall. DJ Krush sampled it on his Meiso album. Any one know this album?

Newk you must be thinking of 'the Silver world'

thank you very much for putting that up. Recordings with Hozan Yamamoto from the 1970s and 1980s are really hard to find nowadays. Anyway, recently I discovered a video of him with Yosuke Yamashita recorded at the Klaviersommer in Munich 1985. It can be watched, streamed, etc. here

Sotise: Yes, indeed! I bought that record from two men who were selling everything in their apartment. They had a very eclectic record collection (disco, prog, comedy) including many with sleeves entirely in Japanese that I just gambled on. One of the other records I pulled was an album of bossa nova played on a shakuhachi.
