COMPANY "BBC STUDIOS, MAY 1983"

While preparing this post I got confused a bit. Got this with a text file which states 11 items but my version has 12. The point of consideration are tracks 5 and 6. The list coming with the CD-r I've got years ago says there's only tr. 5 ( EP-HD-JL). But the folder contained also tr. 6 (EP-JL).
Maybe the performance of the trio was split into two separate tracks? And I cannot hear Hugh Davies on track 6. So it seems the way it is offered here might be accurate enough. Maybe someone can shed some light on this...Andy?

I left the short announcements which are obviously truncated - but better some meagre crumps of hopefully reliable information than none at all.
Interestingly this recording is not mentioned in Ben Watson's book on Derek Bailey, although it has a particular chapter on Company concerts and recordings.
There is an official Company recording from the I.C.A., London, 24-28 May 1983, which is also the only Company never reissued.

But the music is great and IMO that's what is important.

EUROPÄISCHE JAZZNACHT FÜSSEN "1993/1994/1995 TEIL 1"

The "König Ludwig Lied" is a traditional song which came up shortly after the mysterious death of king Ludwig II from Bavaria.
Lyrics vary sometimes - occaisonally with a strong incriminating political content.
But it is also a quite 'kitschy' song which has also connotations to a superficial view of Bavaria and its history/customs.

Joelle Leandre-Les Douzes Sons LP, 1983 Nato

Heres a stunning, hugely enjoyable improv Record on the lamented Nato label.

Joelle Leandre= Godess One of the most unfailingly riveting contemporary improvisors..
if you havent heard her , this is a great place to start , the variety and level of invention through out is staggering.
and whats more its laced with droll humour typical of Nato 's house aesthetic.

The Fun ,and sheer pleasure of playing are palpable throughout , perhaps even the very essence of the record.

Joelle's Dog Miss Biscotte is featured in a hilarious trio with George Lewis.
The full line up is J.Leandre, G.Lewis, Annick Nozati, Irene Scheizer, Ernst Reyseger, and legendary bassist Barre Phillips.

wonderful stuff.. those interested in checking out more OOP Nato lps go here AND HERE

No lament please since the nato company is still around (I run it and am not dead yet) and celebrated last year the 30th anniversary of the label. Lsst release in April was abrand new trio with Lol Coxhill Barre Phillips and JT Bates as well as the first reissue on CD of Instant replay (1983) of Lol Coxhill (featuring Joëlle amongst many others). Les Douze Sons will be reissued on CD in september for Joëlle 60th birthday.

DAUNIK LAZRO "SWEET ZEE" (hatART, 1983/84)

Here’s something I like by Daunik Lazro who's own contributions don’t quite match those on his stellar recent records.
Still Kondo, Lewis and Joelle Leandre have plenty to contribute.
That alone should be recommendation enough.

Hat 2010 (2 lp’s)
Disc 1- ‘sweet zee ‘
Daunik Lazro - alto sax
Toshinori Kondo - trumpet and voice
Jean Jacques Avenel - db

Disc 2 side 1 ‘empire’
(dedicated to jac berrocal)

Daunik Lazro - alto sax,
Raymond Boni - guitar
Carlos Zingaro - violin

Disc 2 side 2  ‘enfances’
Daunik Lazro - alto sax
George Lewis - trb, toys
Joelle Leandre - db, voice

All tracks collectively improvised
Sweet Zee: recorded live at Jazzfestival Willisau on August 27, 1983.
Empire: recorded live at 3rd Sens Music Meeting, France on May 28, 1983.
Enfances: recorded at Dunois, Paris on January 8, 1984. ----

Again a post by sotise which I dare to take over. The above text is by primarely by sotise.
I would like to add that for the re-up the two tracks of  'Sweet Zee' (side A and side B of the double LP) were reinstalled as a continous performance. (This is a new rip not the previous one altered)

And not at least I want to point out that the concert released on the fourth side of this LP was released as CD in 2016. Actually the CD has the complete concert from this day. Available through the label Fou Records .
