This is very genteel. Thank you very much.
Can you tell me if Alan Davie is same Alan Davie (the Scottish artist) who died earlier this year?
There are some really interesting films of him online painting and playing piano.

The you Nick for this elusive and very interesting music.
...and yes, Martin - it is the same Alan Davie who has played with Oxley. And Peggy Guggenheim has bought a picture from him in 1948...
There's a CD available from him discogs

I recommend Douglas Hall's book on Alan Davie - very nicely produced - provided you can pick it up at a reasonable price:

I should also mention Barry Guy's piece dedicated to Davie on "Sinners, Rather Than Saints":

Hi Colin

I bought that book and have seen Alan's shows around Scotland. He's a favourite visual artist and several of his pictures have been used for great covers, for Incus, ADMW and Maya Recordings.

Davie's work has also been used by Maya , Barry Guy and Maya Homburg's CD Label.
