just tried listening to it - and i have to say that i really HATE it, it's poor 80's jazz funk, with bad synths doodling and absolutely horrible production. i'm sure berger only thinks in his nightmares about this.

corvimax, for me this is a summer catastrophe ;)

cheers,
lucky

It's.... okay!

Seriously, if I were to write a review of it, "1980's" would belong in the first sentence. As in, production and sound. I can't hear past the, well, awful 1980's sound for at least a few spins. Intriguing, though: some funky basslines, and it's certainly not the same throughout. Sometimes I feel it's trying to be Jamaaladeen Tacuma in his early Gramavision days. Boy, I wish someone could come up with Renaissance Man or Show Stopper. That's probably what I meant, Lucky. :-)

anonymous, do you mean should be considere not out of print?

I guess it's not available from a regular distributor, or the label itself (which might be the definition of "out of print").
But there's many 2nd hand copies out there. Just thought that's relevant to mention, since for many people it's still nice to have a physical copy of an LP one likes.

No idea though if the ITM boss from back then plans to re-release this at some point... (isn't it the JazzWerkstatt guy?)

I don't know, I guess a couple of pieces here are okay in a kind of......NO, who am I kidding, if Ingrid and Karl's names were'nt on this I woulldn,t give it a second thought. While I really do love the players involved, this is little more than lame 1980's onward elevator jazz pap that I'd expect to here in a department store! The more importatnt thing I guess it that some folks like it, so that justifies it. It's just not my cuppa tea. Got any more KB laying around? There's a nice 1968 radio broadcast floating around somewhere...

Hmm, you've got more interesting department stores over there.

I tell ya Scraps if I walked into a department store and heard From Now On or most anything else by Karl Berger, THAT would put me in a buying mood! :-D

Couldn't resist to enter the comments... as I told Corvimax personally, hearing this album made my 2 fillings jump out of my jaw and no, no matter what or who, it's just plain WRONG [:-) It's awful (and folks who know me & my wide musical interests will agree): I don't speak these words easily...
LOL!
But rest assured Corvimax, you introduced me long ago to Faruq Z. Bey & Northwoods Improvisers ( to name 1 VERY important essence to my present well being) so I guess all is "forgiven" - by me hitting my beloved "DEL" button on the keyboard on this one, plain & simple...
peace,
E-mile

I like rev.b's comments. Thanks for the heads-up! And thanks for the post, corvimax, regardless of whether I'll learn to like it on its own terms or not.
