Revolutionary Ensemble - Live in Genoa '05

This is a "special" post for two reasons : it's n°600 from the beginning
of I.S. and, most of all, this is the recording that documents the last live
performance of the legendary Revolutionary Ensemble.
Exactly six months after the Warsaw performance documented by the
Mutable Music's record "Beyond the Boundary of Time", the Three were
invited to Genoa for a single concert : here is the report of that historical
evening. In the folders you'll find also some photos taken at the concert.

Rec. live at "Teatro Gustavo Modena", Genoa, Italy,
on November 25, 2005 (mix recording)

Leroy Jenkins,violin
Norris Jones "Sirone",bass
Jerome Cooper,drums,keyboards,ballaphone,wood flute

1. Value Forfillment [Sirone] (11:20)
2. Configuration [Sirone] (06:54)
3. Pick [J.Cooper] (16:14)
4. Rumi Tales [L.Jenkins] (06:57)
5. Berlin Erfarhung [Sirone] (06:36)
6. Usami [L.Jenkins] (06:51)
7. Improvisation [Revolutionary Ensemble] (05:11)

Riccardo, grazie mille. I just received recently the Mutable Music album you mention, and enjoyed it a lot as I did with every album of the Ensemble I have played. I'm really looking forward to hear your document.
I had the good fortune of seeing the trio live, around the end of 2005 I believe (or very early in 2006) at the festival Sons d'hiver near Paris.
Take care

A correction on my first message : the concert I saw was on the fifth of february, 2005.

Many Thanks for this. Absolutely superb!

Yes, superb indeed. Grazie mille again, Riccardo. I was not familiar with "Rumi tales" so it has a particular fascination to me, among an already fascinating program as a whole.

Take care

Hello from the top of the Swiss mountains
To my memory this cdr have been only briefly distributed through record stores like dmg. I remember that it have been featured on one of the dmg newsletter at this time and they mentioned a very limited number of copies and that's all. So it is a good idea to repost it particularly considering the wrong order of the tracks and the missing one. Will download it when I will come back down.

Thank you Ernst! This seems to be an edit? IE new folders, different tags, original credits text is missing. Sure would like to get the original post. Maybe someday. That one guy whose name I won't mention really butchered these Riccardo shares and re circulated them.

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

This version is from the person who did the recording - so it is the original version.
Got it only some weeks ago.

volumeselector said...

Oh OK, Thought it might have come through that guy who disrespected me so badly on MoM.

I discovered that this concert is finally still available for download at mutable music's website but as mentioned before one track is missing and the order of the titles have been changed
http://mutablemusic.com/mm/counterpartsinfo

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

It seems unavailable again - also as download from Mutable. When I clicked on the "download" button I read it would be available through "Ganxy". But Ganxy is closed since December 29, 2018 as I found out with some research.
At least that's what I experienced trying to find the download page.
So I shall leave the link until further possibilities for an official dl (or physical copies) will come up.

You may be right Ernst because I contacted Thomas Buckner via the contact form for another subject and he didn't reply, so it seems that mutable music's website is not operating actually, or no more?

Mutable Music and this concert are up and available on the WEB.

Um, I see what was meant referencing the Ganxy download link which still doesn't work.

Ganxy has shut down on December 29, 2018.

Mutable is now on bandcamp, this release is at https://mutablemusic.bandcamp.com/album/counterparts

correct silence said...

yes this music is available on bandcamp but as it was for the cd-r version briefly marketed, the track is in a wrong order and one track is missing. Personally I have the original file but I don't know if it would be in contrary to the rules of the blog to re-post it. Perhaps if someone is interested to have this music, he could ask to mutable music the reason why they continue to offer a wrong version.
