At the moment I have three paied accounts > RS + FS + JF.

I would like to reduce it to one or at the most two file-hosters.

Some feedback which one would be prefered would certainly be relieving for my bank-account.

For me the most dependable was/is Rapidshare - all linke I've ever uploaded are still working - all others are now deleted (at least 450!).
However - please tell me which one you would like to 'see' me uploading to...

RS has always worked fine for me

Thanks for this. As for dl services I'm not committing to any for the moment. I lost money on the last bad bets.

I lost money as well > multiupload > had an premium account for several month - aarrghhh...

Bozo could well be wrong, but this may be Theo's last great "jazz" album- someone jog my memory! I've been celebrating the 5oth anniversary of John Glenn's first spaceflight.
Speaking of "the good ol'days", why don't we cut the www loose and go back to trading the old fashioned way, exchanging cdrs or, dare I say it, tapes, directly with each other, instead of being at the mercy of commercial intrests [or as they used to say,"The Man"!]??? Those were phun years, weren't they,Gramps?

Hi Onx. I have one paid account with Rapidshare but understand it has now become a pain for free users. Fileserve is rather restrictive for free, demanding so many mins between dls, which is a real drag for multiple links. Jumbo appears to be working ok so far. Does that help?

I didn't realize RS had got so stingy for free users. There again, IS is invaluable, if you love this music.

The only premium account I've ever purchased is for Rapidshare, so I would encourage (selfishly) that option.

Still cheaper than postage Bozo. I don't know of any later TL jazz releases. Does anyone have "Stairs" by the TL3?.

Thanks onxidlib. My experience with RS is similar to yours and I would like to keep using my paid RS account.

FS is better than it seems. For free users, ignore the wait for 50-60 minutes threat. Switch off the browser, then switch it back on again after a couple of minutes, and the wait threat is gone. At least that's my experience.

glmlr said...

... perhaps I should have added to that last comment that one should ensure that the browser is set to delete automatically all cookies, internet files etc. etc. upon shutdown.

Thanks for your feedback - for now I'll stick with RS + Jumbo.

JF seems to be the easiest and fastest one. RS is really painfully slow for free users, at least in the last few days.

Try this http://www.gr0wl.com/ to download faster from rapidshare.

Thanks for this one. Another upgrade for an old cassette. Loevendie made at least one more "jazz"album: "Bayram" (with Kristina Fuchs) (TryTone 559 034)in 2005. If anyone... Of course I second Nick's request for "Stairs" by The Theo Loevendie Three. RS is fine as far as I'm concerned. P.S. I've a radio-concert from March 2009. If people are interested and it's within the terms of this blog I could try to unearth it from a stack of cd-rs and post it.

Pretty please, Bill

I was lucky enough to witness Loevendie in action in a solo recital at the Conservatory of Barcelona (Xavier Montsalvatge, in the audience) and he literally blew my mind. He is the unsung hero of Dutch Jazz and this "quintet" is an instant killer. Kudos, guys, very fine choice indeed. Peace and cheers

@Nick, Onxidlib and others:
The 2009 Loevendie concert is posted in "Contributions".
"Bayram" seems to be still available:

Hey Bill - thank you!

Looking forward to hear it :)

A vote for Fileserve - an old friend, always dependable decent speed, reasonable gap between dl's, no gaming the freeloaders. Early 2nd best, and perhaps will earn the #1 spot with dependable service over time, is Jumbo. Rapid has done it again (this is not the first time they've gamed us). Thanks Onx for all the fine work you put into Sol and the concern you show by asking for feedback. Folks like yourself make this site a very special place.

thanks from me too
i was listening to the TL3 recently and was struck: where have I heard this piano language recently? It turned out to be Ethan Iverson's Bad Plus work. As widely studious as Iverson is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a direct influence, though I've never heard him (nor anyone else outside of IS, for that matter) mention this Dutchman.
Loek Dikker is another from the period that I enjoy, and you know where I first heard his work (before IS)!? In the campy Hollywood horror movie "Body Parts"! The movie could barely hold itself together, but the exhilarating score made it memorable back then in my teens! Oddly, they used a very fine Dutch cinematographer, too. Great use of the musical saw (I don't think it was theremin or water drum). Tres eerie!
