i can't put my finger on it, but something about that cover makes it look awesome enough to download with absolutely no clue what i'm about to hear. thanks for the mystery! i can't wait to hear it.

This is a great raga. Ram Narayan is one of my favorite musicians ever, and he's a sarangi god (I started playing sarangi after hearing him for the first time). I've got an LP rip of this album (the quality isn't fantastic). It was recorded in Stockholm, November 23, 1974. The second track is called Gat (not Gap). Gat and Alap are traditional instrumental forms in Hindustani music.
Gat is a fixed composition, always played with the tabla, whereas Alap is a rhythmless exposition of the raga.

I started marveling at the cover art (they had found a superb style for this lp collection) and when the music began I was raptured.

Thank you Sotise ! and thanks to Intempestif for the infos.

intempestif , i know about the basic Raga forms in Hindustani & Carnatic music ... i wrote Gap , because that's what it says on the Lp ... i like to post info as is .. i have access to the Amigo cd , so i could have corrected it.

Thank you. This is deeply soulful Indian classical improvisation.

Just like to add yet another thankyou for these gems of Indian Classical Music. I absolutely love the haunting sound of the sarangi and to hear Pandit Narayan play it is a real treat. Your efforts in making this music available are much appreciated.
