Wow, with players of such a high caliber I'm very curious about the way they interpret Zorn's famous game piece - many thanks, upkerry14!!! :)
Best Masada band ever! Any idea who the brass players are?
track listing if anyone wants it:
Lilin, Khebar, Hadasha, Moshav, Bith Aneth, Harhazial??, Abdian, Acharei Mot, Sheloshim
Many thanks.
WOW, amazing concert. And the beautiful string quartets... Thanks!
Thank you for your effort. This looks to be fantastic. I have seen a lot of Zorn sets, including this years Sunday afternoon Bagatelles series. To some extent everything he does is special to the time and place in which he is doing it. The pieces change with the players involved. As I am living in NYC, I get to see a lot of shows and hope to be present this Saturday when he will be doing three different sets in Brooklyn. It will include a midnight organ solo.
Thanks and thanks for the track list/question(s). Not to raise more q's but:

Live Recordings VPRO March 20, 1999
This broadcast may or may not be that 2008 one? It seems to potentially be the bulk of the material though without the improvisations set indicated there.
As to the Cobra set track 8 is a very interesting interview on the aims and results of the concept. In it JZ refers to the performance of the "game pieces" as a single piece. It doesn't really seem like what's in the broadcast was all of it but if it were 4 pieces as VPRO seemed to think what is here as 01-03, 04-06, 07 and 09 might map out to 4 pieces. There only applause break is at the end of 07. There is applause as 09 starts but that one ends very abruptly. I suspect the broadcast was truncated and perhaps rearranged... Tracking with material like this seems quite relative. I'd only track at applause with this sort of music but what was broadcast here may be excerpts anyway.
Also note the personnel from the VPRO list is substantially different than that with the files. I tend to think VPRO had that right (and listening indicates the instrumentation is more fully and accurately covered in the VPRO personnel list).
Well thanks again. As per above and further listening the Masada material here (which is indeed nice) and personnel on each piece is:

So this is not from the full broadcast but is a lot of it. Wonder if anyone might have the longer edition somewhere?
IF somebody could repost this set, it would be great.
Thanks!
