Sonny Rollins-Live at Ronnie Scott's London 1968

This one's for Andy ... and anyone else who might enjoy it... musically if not quite sonically this is very fine... a nice if somewhat frustratingly flawed, but very listenable document of Rollins playing with British Legends Oxley and Tracey , whom i understand were virtually the house rhythm section at Ronnie Scott's in the Mid to late 60's, along with a variable array of Bassists including Rick Laird, Jeff Clyne, and Chris Lawrence.

You're a good man Sotise. It sounds better than the old tape I had. This should be very popular. Major thanks.

Just for the fun of it, I began thinking about Sotise’s “variable array” of bassists known to have played at Ronnie’s in the 60’s, and came up with these other guys …

Ron Mathewson, Harry Miller, Ron Herman, Graham Collier, Marcio Mattos, Roy Babbington, Kenny Baldock, Lennie Bush, Dave Holland, Danny Thompson, Barre Phillips, Daryl Runswick, Barry Guy, Neville Whitehead, Dave Markee, Malcolm Cecil, Coleridge Goode, Jack Bruce, Freddie Logan, Kenny Napper …

with apologies to anyone who’s name escapes me at this moment.

What an astounding list of bass greats! We need to check about Nick
Stephens!

Rozo: I was not sure if Nick Stephens played Ronnie's in the 60's. Didn't he come later? On bass-guitar with John Stevens ...

Jeeze where's Jeff Clyne in that list?!? Don't forget Jeff my friend...He practically lived on the club bandstand for years..A legend of the British jazz scene...

Apologies..I see Jeff's name was included in the original post for the '68 Sonny gig..That'll teach me to read more closely..Many thanks for the post..Intrigued to hear it.
