ELTON DEAN - 2 Quartets: London 1992 + 1997

It took me a while, but finally here are two amazing cassette recordings courtesy of Andy, posted previously in Contributions section. Earlier one from 1992 can be seen as alternative version of Elton Dean / Howard Riley Quartet, a regular team of 90's, also posted here in the meantime by Andy himself. Riley & Dean photo comes from the booklet of their duo album "One To One" (Slam Productions 1999) and was taken by George Haslam.

ELTON DEAN - alto sax & saxello
HOWARD RiLEY - piano
PAUL ROGERS - bass
TONY LEViN - drums

1. improvisation  - 55:50 + appl.

Rumours, London, 28 February 1992  (Riley on a very ropy old piano)

Second and more 'feverish' piece from 1997 is by one-off grouping - a rare opportunity to hear Elton with Veryan Weston, and suprisingly (as I found when adding tags) also first IS post including this prodigious British pianist and improviser. Thank you for being there and being here, Andy!

ELTON DEAN - saxello
VERYAN WESTON - piano
MARCiO MATTOS - cello
TONY LEViN - drums

1. improvisation  - 17:50 + appl.

Vortex, London, 23 February, 1997

You're spoiling us, Miloo and Andy.

That's a lovely picture of Tony Levin too.

15:22-39:30 Unknown (impro?)
39:30-55:50 Darn That Dream (Eddie DeLange/Jimmy Van Heusen)

Hi - I don't suppose there's any trick to getting the download from Mega without having to download Chrome?

I've really enjoyed these. Nice to remember Tony and Elton this way.

Thanks for these. I've always been a bit curious about the musician who involuntarily bestowed half his name on Elton John.

Thanks for these. Have not been able to get the Vortex set for days due to "File owner's public traffic exhausted", which had not happened with anything else here for me. Mega seems to require downloading a bunch of crap to get a file. Not worth blowing up a computer over.

I've been checking RS links daily, always get "File owner's public traffic exhausted". I removed Chrome after several disasters. That's a strange requirement for Mega. Sure would appreciate any other DL option.

Sorry men, I haven't been here for a couple of days - working now on third DL option for Vortex 1997. As I got free account on RS, daily limit for sharing my files there is only 1GB and renews at midnight GMT.

@softnucleus - thanks for your effort with recognizing tunes. I was never very good with this...

Vortex 1997 at Uloz.to

Many thanks Miloo (and Andy). The latest option seems to work (confusing esp. for the Anglais reader, but at least seems not to push any viruses). I think I have Chrome (unused), so I'm not sure Mega is actually pushing a real Chrome. The almighty dollar at issue again...

JC, for next time at Uloz.to - there is language option at topmost bar, right side - small CZ flag, where you can switch to English. I guess not the clearest solution, but now you know that Stáhnout in Czech means Download, right?
