thanks onxidlib, this Wilen is new to me...like all his mid 60's albums, this one is just as rewarding! What a great sax player...
this a rarity or what?!? i've seen it appear on endless wishlists and NEVER posted ANYWHERE. onxidlib, you really seem to in an euphoric state, at least you know how to make people that :)
MERCI BEAUCOUP!!!
Thanks Onx. I'm totally loving this! Really.
@ E-mile. You mean there's more like this? I've been missing out.
As a big fan of all the players involved, I've been looking for this one for ages! The free side of Barney Wilen. Can't wait to hear it! Thank you.
Thanks. I can't wait to hear this one.
you found it!!! thankyou!! :)
Thanks a million, one from my all time wants list
great docu on Wilen starts here - check it out

Jacques Thollot is especially entertaining here!
A rarity, for sure! I've been sitting and staring at your post in disbelief, onxidlib. Thank you, thank you!
Also on my wishlist for a long time, thanks a lot for your generosity!
Bozo NEVER even heard of this, wow! The Sol brothers have really been on a roll lately! Thanks in advance! Have y'all heard the album he did with the race track sounds?
WOW..
Rare treat, thanks.
This LP has been on my wishlist for years - always outbid on the occasional clean copy that shows up on eBay. Thank you!
I love Wilen's playing on those Tusques records, and I love Thollot on virtually everything I've heard (esp. Lacy's *Moon*).
If I get a chance, I'll post a CD rip (in WAV) of Wilen's *Auto Jazz*, which is a really bizarre film score from roughly the same period as *Zodiac*.
very very welcome, many thanks
Thanks. I assume Carl Heinz Berger is in fact Karlhans Berger.
Yes it's true - Carl Heinz Berger is Karl Berger!
Vielen dank Onxidlib, this is a forgotten treasure for all "avant-garde jazz" listeners. Excellent !
Really looking forward to it, thanks!
Wonderful record and thanks
Nick (Capricorn)
Thanks again and again Onxidlib!
Great treasure! Some artwork bigger or back cover will be appreciate!
Maybe I'll get a Cover (picture) soon - including the back...
My eternal gratitude, onxidlib! I have been aware of that one for many years, but was only able to hear a few tracks from it in all that time.
serviceton thinks that the album Bozo the Clown refers to as the album .. with the race track sounds is the same as that mentioned by 1009 above - 'Auto Jazz'. Wilen was at Monaco auto Grand Prix in 1967 and supposedly witnessed the crash and immolation of Lorenzo Bandini - who died from his burns. Car sounds were supposedly recorded at the same race by Wilen himself on a Nagra (don't know if that is 100% verifiable) - and then mixed into the very dynamic, propulsive, sometimes free musical recording - by way of a tribute to Bandini. Official full album title - 'Auto Jazz: Tragic Destiny of Lorenzo Bandini'. Francois Tusques is on there, Beb Guerin .. I would love to have heard it without the cars on there, but I'm obviously missing the point. Musically - it's strong
Et la musique messieurs ?
'Lion' is the sign I keep returning to, although je suis Balance. Do you think Barney had some Coltrane records ? If I paid €200 for it, maybe I would be a little disappointed - but that's the nature of record collecting I guess.
It's a good album though, and I'm glad to have heard it. Thanks -once again - to that man named onxidlib.
:o)
I like the mystery of Vierge (my sign, incidentally). Yes Lion is more lively than most of the other tracks and their somewhat nebulous atmosphere (which I like).
Cancer, the two-horn blowing of Gémeaux, the joyful cahoots of Bélier are other high points of interest to me, among others.
First tracks are good too but I was away from the keyboard while listening.
frédito -i am listening again.
:o)
Thanks so much for this jewel!
Thank you for making this available again
Thanks again, this is very new to me, strange cover almost missed it.
Thank you very much
Bon, ben.... MERCI !! J'aime ce free jazz qui reste "écoutable" !!
Thanks onxidlib, for posting it again and again . . . and again.
Yes, truly.
thank you very much
Thanks. A real rarity indeed.
Thanks onxidlib. His most successful "free" album, I think.
Thank you.
Thank you beaucoup, Onxidlib. You made my week !
Link deleted - but it will be re-issued very soon!
See here > http://besharpblog.wordpress.com/2014/06/07/coming-soon/
seems Oop now.
Hi Correct Silence - the reissue is not OOP.
I know for sure 'cause I got one item last week for the shop where I'm working for.
Here f.e. you can get it from the source https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/379800253
b-sharp is the producer or someone who works for him.
Is this still in print? Or even "about to become in print"? The links above lead nowhere!
Can someone repost this in FLAC, if possible?
Thanks!
BIG THX!...
i can't wait to hear-- the cover is another matter its great!, as it one of the worst i have ever seen.
roberth
Wonderful!! Many thanks Ernst.
I agree with roberth - the cover is dreadful!
Yes, thanks a lot, Ernst and Happy New Year to you!! (BTW, Siné was a very famous caricaturist well known in France (leftist, anarchist tendency) and a great and subtile jazz fan).
The last thumb to death, he had his grave written "Die? Rather die! "and decorated it with a bronze cactus in the shape of a finger of honor.
Hi bhowani, Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks for the background of Siné whom I know but did not know about his epitaph nor his leanings in politics or music. Sympatico - Cheers
