WALLGREN - ERNRYD - NIEBERGALL - SJÖKVIST "BALLADE AN DER RUHR" (DRAGON DRLP 24, 1979)
Wonderful music from three Scandinavians and one German. Conny Sjökvist of 'Mount Everest' fame and the ever astounding Buschi Niebergall. The other two musicians were new to me but especially Bengt Ernryd plays an excellent trumpet. Every piece a gem.
Update:
I've re-upped this treasured LP on re-listening to it after a concert of Mats Gustafsson and Agustí Fernández last Friday.
Mats told me that Swedish Azz is going to release an LP with Bengt Ernryd and Gilbert Holmström (>Mount Everest) this winter - this exciting prospect brought me back to the music posted here in December 2010....
Bengt Ernryd, trumpet, fluegelhorn
Jan Wallgren, piano
Johannes B. Niebergall, double bass
Conny Sjökvist, drums
1. Kugel (Niebergall) 10:07
2. Ballade An Der Ruhr (Ernryd) 08:21
3. Love Song And Dances No.2 (Wallgren) 11:18
4. From The Diary Of A Travelling Salesman (Wallgren) 07:07
Recorded at Tonstudio Burghardt & Sohn, Schwerte, Germany on November 27 & 28, 1979.

A very nice set that I just discovered through the link from the Ernryd album -- thanks!
As I know only the bassist, I try it. Many thanks.
A wonderful, rare record featuring the legendary Niebergall---and it's recorded in my hometown! What more can I want?
Many, many thanks!
Thanks so much for this Dragon recording.
Great post, is there any chance of restoring the links, i would be very greatful at the chance to hear this, thanks so much
The new link appears to be for the recent reup link to "Bura-Bura pt 1" instead of this very attractive Dragon LP Ballade An Der Ruhr.
Lovely thanks for the re-up onxidlib
