I discovered his music here, not so long ago and it is a luck to have discovered his music. Some posts about his music are probably still active. The records with Gunter Sommet and Grumpff are some of the most interesting. He have also published some cd's that seems not easy to find now, Chromatic Alarm for exemple that I recommend. Versatile musician who's influences where big, his music was more than basic free jazz.

@ Correct Silence - in fact his CDs weren't so hard to come by.
I used to mail him and he shipped the asked CDs rather swift. Wether one item for mayself or a more substantial order for the shop.
Always had at least 5 to 8 titles of his available oeuvre in the shop.

BTW - all posts under Josts's name at IS have active links.

Celebrate Jost's music AND words. "Originally published in 1974, Ekkehard Jost's Free Jazz was the first examination of the new music of such innovators as Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago." His book was unique at the time and is still a good reference.

Yes ImproJazz in France and Open Door in south-west Germany do tend to have stock of Josts's recordings.
In November 2016 he has released his last CD: Masters Of Turbosilence - WinterReise (= WinterJourney).
