2. 4:46 w. outro

1st June 1980.. Nyon Festival, France

Thanks to Bozo for this tape.  Once you get used to listening to this from inside one of the basses it's ok.  The saxes are a little on the quiet side but this is a stupendous grouping with some fabulous playing. Pretty wild (no township).  Something happens (?) at 33:05 so I put a track break in.

Thanks to Gus for this very happening gig.  Enjoy

  2. HI Andy, the trombone player could be Jérôme Naulais.
He is seemingly active in contemporary classical music for the most part, but plays also on at least one recording of Sophia Domancich.

  6. Thanks, simply amazing. What a lineup!

A bit confused about the venue of the 1st show. Nyon is in Switzerland, and its annual festival (Paléo) was held on July.

Here is the official page for that edition: https://yeah.paleo.ch/en/edition/1980

    Any clue?

  7. @ DRONSZ. Maybe Nyons? What do you think? Chinese whispers on these tape copies.

  8. @Andy Wouldn't dare to guess... In fact, there are some references to a "Nyons Festival" around, but I guess it's mainly dance, films. Really small city...
Well, it was just a comment, not that I really mind. The music is what matters, and it's great! Thanks.

  10. Hi again, Nyon is in Switzerland and this concert took place at the Jazz Festival. John Tchicai and Don Cherry played there on the 30th of May 1980 for example.
