Ten years and going

Today it is ten years on the day since the very first post on this blog. Of all things, it was about Google self-censorship in China, but a couple of days later there was another one on Marion Brown which gave an idea about the future direction of the blog. The poster was Sotise, our correspondent from down under, but he was soon joined by a couple of others who set the tone in the early days. Ten years is a life-time in blogland. Many blogs that started about the same time are no longer active, but the IS fellows have kept it going. Yes, fellows. No members of the opposite sex which make me wonder if the type of music posted here is basically a male thing. I hope not.

There have been 2558 posts over the years and 30882 comments in all. Given that volume, many comments are requests for material posted here before which inevitably send the regular crew scurrying into the archives to see if that or those files are still there. But as we do not post in print material as a matter of policy, I guess there is a kind of dusty archive quality to much of what can be found here. But that is a good thing.

Anyway, thanks to the regulars for keeping things going and thanks to our followers for keeping us going. Heading on ...

  5. I discovered I.S less than two years ago and it is an incredible source of great music. Here I discovered some important musician and bands like Theo Loevendie or Nébu to name just a few. All those musicians that I perhaps would have never know about. By Posting and re-posting older contributions, you keep many music alive that have probably disappeared without this blog. I.S is more than a simple blog, it is in a certain way a spiritual vision of life based on share of passion and a preservation of memory. Keep on focusing on underground music, it is here that something still happen.
