  4. Hello Bill
I'm just in the process of download but considering the casting of musicians I'm sure it will be a treasure. I've heard that Be! have the rights of the JG catalog, do you think they will reissue it completely?

  5. Wow, the players aren't new to me but the album certainly is. Site like this insure I'll never be able to claim I've 'heard it all.' Much appreciated!

  7. Thanks for your uplifting comments!

@ Nod y: Wether Be! Jazz will reissue all the music from the Altena/Balver Höhle/Iserlohn concerts I do not know. But Be! Jazz has already reissued the following 4-LP release https://www.discogs.com/Various-Jazzfestival-Balver-H%C3%B6hle-Ausschnitte-Vom-New-Jazz-Programm-1974-75/release/7563220 as a 11-CD box https://www.discogs.com/Various-New-Jazz-Festival-Balver-H%C3%B6hle-New-Jazz-1974-1975/release/8507115
Already last year the label re-released the first item of JG-Records which was a 45" https://www.discogs.com/Wolf-Escher-Quintet-Nelsons-Waltz/release/1311504

And in 2009 the Berlin label Sonorama offered this reissue https://www.discogs.com/Walter-Strerath-Trio-Quartet-Quintet/master/212992

  8. I was going to miss it, especially side D looks attractive to me, thank you

  9. Honestly I've to say that side D is the only one from this package I haven't heard.
The voice of Ingrid Berger (Sertso?) isn't my favourite one.
So occaison and mood haven't met so far for side D.

  11. Thank you, Nod.
That's the reason I've deleted the link some time ago.
BTW - the discogs entry was made by myself when the producer sent me the box / infos.

  12. How is the box - apart from very expensive? Privately?

  13. I have just received it yesterday so the first thing that I can say is that the sound is better than on the original lp's, because the tapes have been cleaned. Considering the music there are several moments of interest. There is a performance of the Brotherhood of Breath with Gary Windo, he has not often recorded with the B.O.B. One long performance of the Reform Art Unit, in that case also there are very few recordings of this band, same for the last cd that is the Theo Lovendie & Consort. It is expensive for sure but there are some rare performances well recorded.

  14. I would like to add that also the quality of the box/package is well made and solid.
The tapes were aquired by the label from the son of Karlheinz Klüter (the original producer) and remastered at the Railroad Tracks studio near Cologne.

The same label will release five new CDs in the first days of November.
DUSKO GOYKOVICH QUARTET + QUINTET - EUROPEAN JAZZ SOUNDS - cd digipack
THE GERMAN ALLSTARS - DIE DEUTSCHEN ALLSTARS - cd dgipack (reissue!)
V.A. ... FROM THE GERMAN JAZZ FESTIVAL 1964 - cd digipack
    V.A. ... FREE AT THE GERMAN JAZZ FESTIVAL 1966 - 2-cd digipack
Jazz Antibes 1963 - FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DU JAZZ 1963 - cd digipack

More boxes from Altena etc. are in preparation.

  15. Yes Ernst is right
I forgot to explain that this box set is not like the cheap box sets that we often see now, the size is like a lp box set and there are two beautiful booklet, one for each part of the festival. price is not light but the music and the object have an high quality. I also want to add that this label have reissued "jazz message from Poland" by Tomasz Stanko and have also published a really great live of the Marion Brown Quartet from 1977.

  16. Strange but listening to the 4th cd of the box set yesterday, the performance by the Scandinavian All Star, I noticed that it is not the same track than on the original lp posted here. The track from the lp is not on the box set, it is a pity because this performance start with a cover of one track by Don Cherry.

  17. Thank you, Nod for the info.
    Strange, isn't it!

  18. To follow the discussion about the Scandinavian New Jazz Group, I got in touch with the record company and they seems not to have noticed the different between the performance on the lp and on the cd. They told me that they will includes the lp performance that is missing on the box set in their next Altena box set.
    @Nick
I have listened to the full 8 cd and of course I think that you know and have your opinion about the recordings that have been previously posted here. For the rest of the box set, the first duet between J.F Dobrovowski and J. Benarek is very interesting. The performance of the Brotherhood of Breath is short but interesting. The Scandinavian new Jazz Group is very good, same for the Phil Woods European Rhythm Machine. The one that I really appreciate is the Reform Art Unit. Anima is also very interesting. But I was disappointed by the cd of Theo Loevendie & Consort. I was expecting much from this band that i discovered here but the performance on the box set is very free without real direction in my opinion. The post of this band that are available here are really more interesting in my opinion. All in all it is a good box set.

  19. Does anyone have a download link? I was turned onto this comp by the otherworldly performance of Brotherhood of Breath - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ0bQx1fYtI - but am very interested in the whole thing! Thanks X
