Mal Waldron-Mal 81

Heres another, 80's Japanese only album by Mal Waldron, Beautiful in its way.
But ultimately a fairly routine mellow romp through a bunch of standards, isn't going to overly excite anyone who's into his most exploratory 1970-77, period.
All Standards ...
...........................a joint venture by  Teitchiku, and N.Y , Based Progressive records
enjoy...
Love the back cover!...

  2. Actually , just relistened a few times in a row , its not routine , just a little breezy , for Mal , formulaic in the way that say Horace Silvers Great 60's Blue note albums are formulaic....
I'm Enjoying it more each successive

  7. Just finished listening to it, and as I see it, even if Mal is basically sticking to the melody of some very well known standards, he manages to bring a certain 'gravitas' to whatever he plays, turning into something other than superficial. Case in point, listen to "Yesterdays".
    Thanks again
