    Thank you Nick, Truly a treat for these ears. I hate to ask you for anything with all you have given me already. Is there a chance down the road you might be able to post ISKRA 1903 and WIRED from this set? Thanks again for all the hours of listening pleasure I am indebted to you.

    Wow. Much thanks Nick. Do you happen to have rips of the 2 other LP's in this box set? I picked up the dubious vinyl reissue of the Wired LP from this set, but have not heard the Iskra 1903 LP. Thanks again.

    Iskra 103 is on the Emanem 4301 CD - out of stock, but probably temporary.

    I think the Wired re-issue was a bootleg, so I can post that in a bit.

    Hi Nick, the recording from this Box is not on the Emanem 4301 CD.
    It was recorded at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, June 21-24 1973.
    The recording dates of Emanem 4301 are:

    A1-B3: 1970 September 2 - by Hugh Davies
    B4-B10: 1972 May 3 - by Bob Woolford
    C1-C3: 1971 August 1 - by Ben Christianson
    C4: 1972 October 21 - at Donaueshingen
    C5: 1972 November 1 - at Berlin
    C6: 1972 October 23 or 24 - at Bremen

    I only remember it only dimly but I read in an interview with Bailey, that Deutsche Gramophon wanted about 5000,- German mark when he tried to buy the recording back.
    The question then was, why they haven't re-issued it themselves.
    5000,- were quite a sum in those days.

    The last time I checked my local vinyl store, I saw a new copy of this DG 3LP box selling for the regular price of €40.00.

    The "Wired" part was never my cup of tea;[it may be great-dunno?],but the other two discs are incredibly high-class, or put more simply, KILLER! St.Nick is really rockin' and rollin' lately,ain't he?

    Onx: I think the true meaning of “OOP” is a vexed issue. A record label may report something as OOP if it runs out of its own stock, but that ignores multitudinous copies still in circulation in retail outlets world-wide, many staying unsold for years, if not decades. Over the years, I have seen a large number of I.Sol postings still available for sale in local shops, at sensible non-eBay prices, provided one is willing to spend the time hunting for them. The old American retail model was that unsold vinyl could be returned to the record label, which then often sold the stuff in bulk to exporters who would offload it into places such as one’s local flea-market. A few years ago, a friend of mine here bought up a set of almost the entire India Navigation catalogue in a single swoop.

    Glmlr: Off course you are right.
    The shop I'm working for also had many CDs/LPs which were OOP (at the source). We had many costumers happy to find these items still available in our shop.
    Myself was happy to find a bunch of FMPs and other nuggets at a real bargain price at one of our storage places.
    They were stashed there for many years. I almost couldn't trust my eyes...
    Still now - the company went to the stock-market several years ago - I find occaisonally some long OOP CDs. F.e we still have few FMP CDs which officially are deleted...
    I only wanted to express my astonishment about finding an unplayed DG 3LP box after so many years which of course is still possible.

    I also look forward to the possibility of a reup. The whole question of OOP above also caught my interest. I find it amazing that we have had long periods when very important music in the history of jazz and creative music was unavailable, making it very difficult for the individual who is working to become more familiar with the music. I was lucky and started my journey in the early '70s, so I have a not unreasonable collection for study and sharing on radio [I believe still a viable and important means of outreach for the music]. This is a marvelous blog for discovering music no longer available, but still of great import! Thank you for all your efforts!

    Dear all, the France Musique radio announced last week the death of Carlos Roque Alsina, some time in August.
    He was still playing, (I heard him in 2019) and composing, I guess.
    A great loss, his playing of Schonberg was as outsatnding as his improvisations or compositions....
