Sonny Sharrock - Space Ghost Coast to Coast

I was quite delighted to come across an unknown Sharrock in the Vitous post below, so just to follow up on that pleasant discovery, here is the last commercial release from Sharrock before his untimely passing away in 1994. This was done for the Cartoon Network TV channel, basically Sharrock and a drummer, but with a bassist and a bit of vocal on the first two tracks. Unmistakably Sharrocky throughout on this, whatchamacallit, EP, I spose. Good rocking stuff!

01. Hit Single
02. Cinnamon Ghost
03. Out To Launch
04. Fear Of A Ghost Planet
05. Rocket #99
06. Ghost Planet National Anthem

According to Discogs, these are the players (though undisclosed on the actual cd):

Bass, Horns – Eddie Horst
Drums – Lance Carter
Guitar – Sonny Sharrock
Vocals – Alfreda Gerald

This has been doing the rounds on blogs in mp3 format, but as this is off my own cd, we'll settle for flac. No second best solution here!

  2. Wow -- did not think I'd see this in FLAC any time soon. I really enjoy this record.

  3. thanks for the upgrade, kinabalu! first heard this years ago as contribution at orang aural - not really a major record, but still good enough to compete with most guitar players.

    cheers :)

  6. NICE! I didn't know of an album... but somebody posted the video last year and I snatched it up. I just put it up at Vimeo:

Thanks to the original uploader, of course.

  7. Thanks for the added info. It is also confirmed by the entry in Discogs, which reveals that there is a 1997 rerelease with a bonus track which I haven't seen or heard. The cd itself is largely devoid of any info on the players (except Sharrock, of course). I'll amend the main post.

  13. Thanks for this. I actually bought a copy of this a few years back from an eBay seller who neglected to mention that the CD insert was missing. Is there anything printed inside the fold?

  15. Not quite. The Depositfiles and Wupload options are still functioning, though Satan knows for how long.

  18. Finally - through your comment at D-O I realised what is hidden in the depth of Inconstant Sol.
Kinabalu > Fierce thanks for some fierce Sonny Sharrock!

  20. Thanks so much, you kick ass! I didn't even know this CD existed until today and these tracks aren't on any other release (as far as I know).
I would love to hear an album of Sonny Sharrock playing with Lance Carter AND Melvin Gibbs on the same tracks.
