  3. Unreal bass player..'Mountains in the Clouds' from this period remains a high point for him..I'm hoping for more of the same here..The whole U.S period (roughly '66-'70) is, for me, his most interesting work..By the by I love the cover art here..A cigarette between Miroslav's fingers!!! Love it....

  6. I really like this set -- it allowed me to give "fusion" a chance, and that has been really productive for me. Wonderfully weird stuff.

  7. Steve Marcus's afro on the cover has me in awe - he later went on to play for a long time with Buddy Rich's band, both before *and after* Rich's death. I think he had to give up the afro (and the Coltrane-ims) for that particular gig though.
Is the noise reduction quite heavily applied here? Some places I don't really notice it, but others (say the beginning of the 2nd track ) the sound swirls around in a way that sounds odd and disconcerting - tough on the ears.
Don't want to be churlish - and I thank you both for the chance to hear this record.

  8. Hi Serviceton. It will be because I forgot to lift the ground on the ADC. I will re-do.

  9. I thought this special sound phenomenon which Serviceton describes was intentional...somehow...er }:-|

  10. Nick - didn't mean to sound ungrateful - certainly don't sweat a re-rip merely on my account.
I am interested though - what is the 'ground on the ADC' thing you mentioned? I guess that ADC is Analog Digital Converter? But beyond that?..

  11. Hi Serviceton, I didn't take it that way at all. If I can work out how to fix the recording on this, I'll know what to do better in future.

I don't want to start some kind of technical thread, because I think IS is about the music and musicians. Plus I'm not very technical. But feel free to email.

    Thanks
