A magical performance by Amajad Ali Khan , one of the eminent masters of Hindustani classical instrumental music.. in one of his finest performances as yet unreissued to my knowledge... i ripped this for a few other friends , and may as well share it here ,it is so good.

    This sounds *cd quality* to my ears: what a warm, full-sounding, well-balanced recording this is!

    And this also features the debut of the illustrious tabla player Sabir Khan on record as well.

    As the first side began to play I read through Amjad Ali Khan's comments on the back cover, noting that he felt the raga best suited to late evening performance.

    It is summer here and I briefly considered waiting for what promises to be a balmy eve tonight to immerse myself in this however already transfixed I was unable to remove myself, and sat back to listen with morning sunshine and breeze drifting through my window, and the sound of bird song filtering in through aural spaces in the raga.
