A Midsummer Blindfold Test

The question is: who is playing this crazy version of "Round Midnight"?

Remember that it's only a joke, so don't shoot the piano player!

    This is perfect Dixieland style...

  2. Eddie Condon-on banjo, with Buddy Tate-tenor, thats too tame to be Pee wee Russell on Licorice stick!.. i love it!

  3. I would think, Jack Teagarden.
Although his vocal style is totally different.

But that's only a bad guess.

    Maybe even Roswell Rudd!?

Roswell Rudd is a shrewd reference
(he started with a Dixieland band),
    but still wrong.
The solution is closer to us (in time): the seventies.

  6. Hmm- I heard a crazy record years ago, have been trying to track it down- some french group called the "anachronistic Jazz Band" or something- is this it?

Exactly : Anachronic Jazz Band rec. live at "Parco Sempione", Turin, on July 10, 1978 (their last year of activity).
Those interested in deepening knowledge of A.J.B. can find here the full reprint
    of all studio recordings.

  9. These blindfold tests are great. Any chance of re-upping that Yoshiaki Fujikawa trio blindfold post from way back?
    cheers!
