I concur! Thanks so much, riccardo!
Thanks so much for this! "Crystals" is a favorite--love his big band scoring.
Great timing, Rivers turns 86 today.
Mahalo, Riccardo, for these massive sounds by the greatest living jazzman!

It was great hearing this concert, actually for the first time, despite it having been posted all these years ago. Kudos to mew23 for upping it again, and for those who have not heard it yet, I advise you to do so.
Top music and top musicians all around. The only drawback is that the final piece gets faded after about 20 minutes. Was this orchestra ever formally recorded?
Thank you mew23!
Mew23 - thank you for the reup. Just finished my first round with this concert and Kinabalu is right in advising us to hear it.
I don't think this line-up ever did a regular release. At least I haven't foud any evidence. Neither at the www nor in Tom Lord's discography.
mew23 - Thank you for the reup of this Sam Rivers post. I was losing hope of being able to hear this one (like my last few requests for riccardo's old posts). But I truly thank you for resurrecting this request/post. I really look forward to hearing this as soon as it's done downloading. Maybe stop back by the comments here after I give it a spin or 2.
There just isn't that much out there to represent Rivers compositions/arrangements for larger ensembles in the seventies, so this one is a rare treat... and what a band!!!!
BIG THX!...
Thanks, Mews!
