LP Rip
@ Nick, thank you very much for all of these Fringe Benefit records, These musicians are, apart for Jon Rose, almost all new to me, actually Jon Rose's music has never been my cup of tea, but I have to say I haven't had many chances to dig it.
ReplyDeleteI am listening now to this last upload, pretty amazing! Thank you
@Magogiallo
ReplyDeleteif you were not faster than me I had surely suggested you to catch this one due to our preview exchanges about Don Cherry, we are in some close territories here isn't it? This might be the only lp of this style produced by Fringe Benefit, very different than the others but very pleasant too. Obviously Peter Kelly doesn't record anymore but Colin Offord is operating in the new age style, remaining me that Frank Perry did the same. Thank you very much again Nick to have provided so fast my request. I can only support you to continue this serie, few more rips like these ones and you will be able to open a bandcamp store of Fringe Benefit. I have seen that there is another lp with Burdett, Ermoll, Kelly and Rose titled improvisation, in the future it will be welcome. Obviously Jon Rose sometimes plays also the north Indian sarangi in some of his recordings, for those who don't like violin, after you'll hear sarangi, you will really appreciate violin :)
@ correct silence, Yes I agree, this record moves in those same territories, I didn't know Colin Offord at all, he has a not long discograpy, the second album The Empty Vessel 1981, a solo affair, is pretty nice too, I found a 320 rip if you or someone else is interested. He is also an instruments inventor take a look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AULYRoVlH1I.
ReplyDelete@ Nick,it is getting better with Rose's music :), I owned only a CD Brain Weather, I bought it long ago after reading an article about Mr Rose, but I never liked it much. I guess I have to give it another try now. Of course if it happens that you have also the solo improvisation vol.1 & 2 they will be very welcome! The Colin Offord record is a discovery for me and opened me to another bunch of australian musicians I totally didn't know, at least some of them sounds interesting. Thanks again for your shares and suggestions helping me to discover interesting new music.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated
ReplyDeleteHUGE THX!...

ReplyDeleteI have seen that you have placed a request about Arkhangelsk, in some way our taste are close, I also like this band, I already have portrait that you want to provide if some are interested but I'm with you for the two lp of Arkhangelsk. Try the others Jon Rose lp posted by Nick, personally i found them all interesting even the trio of Rose Russell and Nicole that I have first passed because I'm more free jazz than improvised music. Due to the fact that I have appreciated the others i made a return on this one and found Russell's guitar quite melodic and not only connected with the deconstruction. Also the vocal performance of Maggie Nicole in the second side is really pertinent.
wonderful, these guys were really inspired, many thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting this. I think there are very few LPs in existence. I've been looking for it for years. 2MBSFM or 2JJJ played it in late 1978 in Sydney I recall.
ReplyDeleteThis will shortly be joining the many other FBR releases we're sharing with Jon Rose on the Fringe Benefit Records bandcamp page https://fringebenefitrecords.bandcamp.com/
ReplyDeleteGreat - I'll take the links down.
