One of the many collaborations between Hamid Drake and european musicians. This time Drake plays with Italian vibist Pasquale Mirra who have recorded more in various projects than under is own leadership. You can find him on Butch Morris Conduction® / Induction. (Rai Trade) It doesn’t mean that Mirra is an avant garde player. In fact this set is more inside and relaxed than outside and complicated. Original tracks and covers are in the program.

ReplyDeleteThanks for this one correct silence. Drum and vibe duo. Most excellent. I used to go see Drake and Zerang drum duo. Every year they would perform on the winter solstice in Chicago. The show would start at midnight on the longest night of the year. Those shows were allot of fun. (Not sure if they are still doing them??)
ReplyDeleteI know he's performed w/ vibest Jason Adasiewicz in combinations w/ Brötzmann and also in a trio with Joshua Abrahms. Not sure if they have performed as a duet though. Unfortunately Jason Adasiewicz appeared on the Chicago scene four or five years after I moved from there....
