A quick correction: Track 4 (notated as "B1. The Owl") is actually a medley. At the 5:54 mark he begins the song "Torments" (after having already recapped "The Owl"). So the track should be called "B1. The Owl - Torments" (or something like that). Track 5 (notated as "B2. Torments") is actually the song "Scraps." For confirmation just check the albums "Scraps - The Steve Lacy Sextet" released on Saravah in 1974. This was rereleased on the box set "Scratching the Seventies/Dreams." Thanks so much for making this available! It's truly extraordinary playing!
Nick - many thanks. Only once did I see Lacy perform solo, it was spellbinding. Echoes I can hear in this recording :-) How many copies pressed of this one? ...
Thanks also JSinton for the tune titles iron-out. I know some don't give a toss for this kind of detail but I think it matters (and probably to Lacy too I think.) - so thanks.
I think it was a few hundred copies, but there was a batch of them that were badly stored and got warped along one edge, so fewer in circulation. The second part of the concert was a duo with Masahiko Togashi and the third a trio with Motoharu Yoshizawa - it would be great to hear those. The other error on the sleeve was that the recording date was actually on 16 June 1975 and I have changed the posting to reflect this.
All the best to everyone for the holidays
