ReplyDeleteGreat post, thanks. Disturbing article about current Australian politics here http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/oct/13/an-apology-from-australia-to-the-rest-of-the-world-is-now-warranted

ReplyDeleteyeah, Australia is fast becoming a police state, the usual story a slash and burn government consisting of a a bunch very wealthy warmongers (we are back in iraq.. kissing uncle sam's ass)who don't really believe in man made climate change, human rights are now only for the privileged.. they are taking steps to control the internet, and are putting in place legislation that will have a chilling effect on free speech something akin to big brother Sam's patriot act... they and the subservient hapless australian media have whipped up a of racial resentment , massive islamophobia... they want a nation of terrorized docile obedient drones who'll happily function in a state of perpetual economic uncertainty, so they can make fortunes, exploiting human weakness and prosecuting their perpetual war on terror... the most loathsome government this country has had in decades!
ReplyDeletea few months ago , they were plummeting in popularity , but now that we are back in iraq that has all changed ..
Cory Bernardi is some atavistic reptilian character straight out of the
mid 19th century. .. where are the thomas Paine's of this present era?
Alexis Tsipras?

Thanks Igor, interesting site i hope Tsipras makes it, problem is he'd probably have to compromise to such a great extent.. that he'd no longer in practice be espousing the same principles..remember Francois Hollande wanted to tax the rich for an indeterminate probationary period.. has he done it? NO, once they achieve power even the best intentioned sell out their principles, nothings ever going to change without mass mobilization of global citizens... but what is the threshold, needed to create a tipping point? 30%....50%, 80%
ReplyDeleteThank you Sotise. As for Tsipras, I wouldn't hold my breath. The good intentions are there but they're already starting to make serious concessions to get into power.
