ReplyDeleteAre the personnel listed in proper order for their various importance to the music world-very important!
ReplyDeleteNo special order - simply as it was listed on the page of the Berliner Festspiele.
ReplyDeleteE# is not less "important" than Barry Guy - he's a guest to the BGNO...
Wasn't thinking E#/ Just making another lame joke, is all...
ReplyDeleteOh sorry - wasn't alert enough to check that it is a joke :-{
ReplyDeleteAppreciated, thanks.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks. I see that the Barry Guy New Orchestra had a residency at Café Oto for three days from 20th May:

I wonder if any tapes were rolling. It would be nice to have another "Mad Dogs" type release. One usually has to wait a few years.
Did anyone go?
thanks for the E#!
ReplyDeleteWould seem, at first, an odd meeting, but I'm not sure I have any real idea of the differences/similarities between the two scenes. This may help. Many thanks.

Onx, I still can't ever remember which way those :-] things go, can[t we all just use smiley phaces? PS Neat as hell to hear E# in the group, I was "clowning" around about the recent publicity recognition crisis, which caused a circus.
ReplyDelete@ onxidlib, well this is weird. The day before you posted this, I put up four posts from Follyfortoseewhat in the Contributions section (including this Barry Guy). Do you have any more? I thought Folly was a really interesting site, but I only discovered it after many of the links had been lost.
ReplyDeleteThanks in anticipation.
I can conform that the Barry Guy New Orchestra residency at Oto was recorded – apparently, they record every gig – and that it’s expected that the last night will be broadcast on 23rd June, presumably on BBC Radio 3’ Jazz on 3, which is usually available online for a week afterwards via the BBC website.
ReplyDeleteHi Martin,
ReplyDeleteyes I have some more.
But I do not recall which were through 'folly's' blog.
I do remember a very good George Russell broadcast (in fact two).
I only took the posts which were available in flac format.
I also have a Jimmy Lyons (quartet or quintet) from 1975.
As the blog is only partially visible with the 'wayback-machine' I can't confirm wether other recordings I have stem from 'folly'.
Thanks for this 're-up' of FFTSW; I've also some of these that I can identified (some in flac, some in mp320). I'll post some in contributions soon.
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to see those George Russell broadcasts, onxidlib! And thanks for this one.
