ReplyDeleteHaven't heard this in many years, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Nick. This is my favourite period for Dollar Brand. This release was followed by his two magnificent solo piano albums for Sackville; "Sangoma" & "African Portraits".
ReplyDeleteCompletely unknown to me. I recall a comment on your blog from a few months ago: "where do you find these records?" Exactly!! Haven't recognized anything since forever. Looking forward to hearing this - amazing lineup. Many thanks.

ReplyDeleteWhat a joyous piece of music. Thank you for the opportunity to hear it.
ReplyDeleteHi Nick
ReplyDeletemany thanks for this, absolutely unknow
Thanks again. I'm likely in the small minority but this one didn't really do that much for me. To my ear I'm not sure it really played to their strengths or quite jelled in terms of a flow all of them are quite capable of developing. It didn't seem like the piano stayed in tune either (though as hard as he was playing it perhaps no surprise).
ReplyDeleteThank you! Never heard of this one, but I love African Portraits and some of Abdullah Ibrahim's other stuff from this period. I recognize some of the song titles. Looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteReally digging this. Thanks so much!
