ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH NONET "KÖLN 1969"
Only 23 days later Schlippenbach recorded his LP "The Living Music".
Except Paker and Bailey the line-up was the same as for this broadcast. The actual LP "The Living Music" might be one of the most often re-issued recordings of Free Jazz.
First there was an edition on A.v.Schlippenbach's 'Quasar' imprint. Than the more widely distributed FMP 0100. A CD on John Corbett's Unheard Music Series. And finally a re-release on LP through Cien Fuegos in 2013.
Manfred Schoof, cornet, trumpet
Paul Rutherford, trombone
Peter Brötzmann, tenor & baritone saxophone
Evan Parker, soprano & tenor saxophone
Michel Pilz, bass clarinet, flute
Alexander von Schlippenbach, piano, percussion
Derek Bailey, guitar
Buschi Niebergall, bass, bass trombone
Han Bennink, drums

ReplyDeleteA line-up made in heaven. And back in 1969 we considered it perfectly normal.
ReplyDeleteWow. Thanks as always.
ReplyDeleteI am off to see the Schlippenbach Trio in Amsterdam and Berlin next week. Anyone in the area should try to make it if they can. For those in NYC, I am told they are booking another week of Evan Parker at the Stone for next fall (2014). It was great a few months back when he had his residency & the show at Roulette.
Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. Really Great! - I just have trouble with the last track "Lollapalooza". Seems to be broken. Downloaded it 3x already, but this track always makes problems, when I try to unzipp the folder. (I used Zippyshare; using Rapidshare takes more than 24 hours!) Could you eventually fix the Zippyshare files? Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, one of the most interesting postings
ReplyDeleteI downloaded the Zippy files, unpacked them and they played perfectly - but here is one more link:

Could you re-up this?

ReplyDeleteWhat a quick responce! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Muchísimas gracias!
ReplyDeleteAnother re-up on this one please?
ReplyDeleteHi Nick Metzger,
ReplyDeletewon't reup this broadcast.
Last year I asked Alexander von Schlippenbach wether he would approve a release of this concert.
I send him a CDr and after listening to the music after almost 50 years he agreed.
So it is still in the pipeline.
Mailed the label for confirmation very recently.
Exciting! Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteSadly there will be - at the time being - no release of this great music. So: 1fichier
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
