Rare performances by: Peter Brötzmann Trio, Alan Skidmore Quintet and Michael Osborne, Tomasz Stanko Quintet, New Jazz Ensemble and Karin Krog, Albert Mangelsdorff Quartet & The Trio (Surman, Phillips, Martin).
Although the sound is not the best - like a bootleg - to my knowledge it is a bootleg - this double LP offers a glimpse into an otherwise insufficiently recorded phase of European Free Jazz .
My appreciation goes to J. for ripping his LPs for me and now then for you - please say thanks to him.

Best regards,

Hi Johann,
ReplyDeleteyes you're right.
John Surman does not belong to the line-up.
Wow! This looks to be beautiful. I can't thank you enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the last two comments. If John Surman is not present on Side D, then who is playing the baritone sax? It is not a good recording, but a baritone is clearly audible.
ReplyDelete@ glmlr - John Surman IS playing on side D - but NOT on side B.
ReplyDeleteThe previous line-up at the post included Surman - after Johann's comment I've deleted it.
In the dl you'll find therefore the info file with the incorrect info...
Sorry - I've literally heard a recording with Surman while preparing the post! Seems his baritone was strong enough to influence me to write his name more often than appopriate for the recent post ;)
Many thanks to all involved.
ReplyDeleteGreat - thanks to all - much appreciated - Fred
ReplyDeleteOnx: Thanks a lot for the clarification.
ReplyDeleteThanks - its wonderful to be able to hear these
ReplyDeleteThanks to all involved!
