  3. I agree ; this Carla Bley band is my favorite too.
Their concert in Chateauvallon (august 1977) was awesome although the audience did not aclaim the band.
Looking forward to hear the Alassio concert.

  4. thanks for the post of this; yes, the later seventies were a boom and blossoming time for a lot of the new-thing jazz bands, and the Bley band was one of my great obsessions of the day back then.

Unfortunately the Rapidshare is only giving me "This file can only be downloaded by becoming a Premium member" -- I guess I'll have to return to this in the late-night hours to see if I can get in.

  5. Wonderful, thanks, very vibrant live sound and spirited performances. The late Hugh Hopper said the band didn't play enough dates to do the music justice, but on the basis of this concert I'd have to say he was mistaken. Incidentally, I think you have the titles for tracks two and four reversed. Not absolutely certain about four, as I don't have Dinner Music nor the recording by Gary Burton, but two is most definitely Drinking Music.

  6. @ gidouille

    Of course you're right!
Just a stupid mistake, now i've
correct the list but you all
have to correct titles and tags
    in the folder.

p.s. i knew LYM was looking for
this recording : may you advise
    him ?

    all the best

  8. Hi anyone here!!! I'm still alive even if without an internet connection and with a very little time to spend. A GREAT THANK TO YOU for Your invaluable and Unbelievable work and generosity.
Finally the italian date of the CB Band. undoubtely one of or perhaps "The" best Carla's orchestra! Take a look at my long comment on ubu's blog too. And thanks for the Paul Motian date same festival, year and location, perhaps the day before. Even that has been one of the best Paul Motian group.
A particular THANKS to Riccardo for his huge and astonishing fine collection.
This remain in my opionion of the best musical blog of the net. I wish I could give a little contribution in the next future again. Sometimes here I feel like at home among "good old" friends.

    have a nice day
    SEE YOU LYM :-)
