hi pablo,
ReplyDeleteit was a very sound advice to add the hard blues to dogon a. d. i had both records in vinyl years ago and considered them as the ones among the best in free jazz. i cannot understand why arista freedom did not do the right job. by the way - the beginning of the hard blues (first minute approx.) was for years the signal of my radio programme on free jazz broadcasted by radio szczecin in poland...

Thanks for this fine post!
ReplyDeleteOne glitch. The download at the given link returned a completely soundless "Rites." Also the length of that cut (15.39) did not agree with the length of the same cut from your earlier Dogon AD post (8.20)... that older link still works and has the correct file for Rites.
Thanks for all the great top ten posts recently. I'd only heard of Julius Hemphill by name prior to this post, so it's a real treat to finally hear the music. And it does not disappoint!
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity, has anyone else had trouble with "Rites"? The whole track was silent on my player. Perhaps its an improvised elaboration on Cage's "4:33"?
Testing... 1...2...3
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else had trouble commenting on this post?
I fixed up Rites with the new dogon2.rar
ReplyDeleteThanks. This is GOOD. :)
