A few more ...

A few more of those French ads from the 70's featuring free players. The most surrealistic being the last one, advertising the availabilty of Ayler, Shepp, Ra and Sanders records in all "Euromarchés", a French hypermarket chain !

  3. My guess is that the Euromarché offer didn't last long :).

Kike, to download simply left click on the image, wait until it loads completely, right click and "save as".

  9. Glad everybody likes those pics, I'm particularly fond of the bearded Lacy also.

Dear anonymous commentator, as my English is not perfect I can not grasp if you're joking or not about paying for high res scans (I hope you are!) but sorry I can't do better than what is posted here. The full size versions of the pics (when you click on them) look pretty printable to me anyway ...

  10. Just found these - great stuff!! I seem to recall reading that Steve Lacy had some input into the design of the Selmer SA 80 II soprano sax. I also reasd somewhere that there's a chapter in his book on soprano sax techinque on how to give up smoking, though I don't think he ever managed to do so... Buffet seem to have had a promotional drive with any sax player they could get hold of in the late 60's/early 70's - Art Pepper mentions getting a sax and clarinet off them after he came out of Synanon in "Straight Life" and there's pictures of Albert Ayler holding Buffet saxes in the Impulse cd booklets. i think Braxton played 'em for a while as well, although he seems to favour a Selmer these days. Buffet don't make saxes in France anymore since they became part of Boosey & Hawkes group
