a very well recorded frank wright broadcast from 1973.
This features silva, few and Harold e smith , who must have been a fill in for muhammed ali.
I only know smith through his association with joe mcphee’s cjr output.
This concert truly is incredible, divided into two lenghthy improvised tracks.
Its certainly as fine as anything officially released by wright silva and few.
Many thanks to the original taper/traders/seeders/boromir and glmlr
Enjoy

Could the mp3 be reposted and made available? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteTraven
travern, the mp3's havent been posted yet!
ReplyDeletegreat posts by the way . I know how to convert flac files it is a headache but works . Google the word SWITCH and install this program it converts flac , mp4 and other types of files . itunes also converts flac files as well . Does anyone know if there is a free winrar program to open rar files for Mac's and how to find them thx Steve
ReplyDeletesotise, do you (or does anyone) happen to know if this is the same quartet concert which was once up on c#9..?
ReplyDeletecent,
ReplyDeleteyes, it is the same one. I downloaded it as mp3s from c#9 and checking against the flac files from the Dime download, I can verify that it is indeed the same one. Bobby Few is just magnificent on this concert and I've now appended the Bobby Few collection with three further Bobby Few records from the late 70s/early 80s. BTW, Steve Lacy fans would know that he played extensively with Lacy in the 80s. He's still active up to the present day.
thanks man :-D
ReplyDeletei didn't know that bobby few was still active, i must admit. who does he play with these days?
i keep meaning to mail you but i haven't got round to it yet!
Hello Hal, long time since we've talked, I hope everything is fine for you (haven't really checked your work on Braxton as I'm not yet an adept).
ReplyDeleteRegarding Bobby Few, he is for sure still active, I got a flyer for a show - with Sonny Simmons I think - in Paris recently. Mr. Few has been living there since the late 60's/early 70's.
Best,
Pierre

ReplyDeleteFirst thanks for this post.
I don't know if you use mac, and if you finally resolve conversion problem. But I found this software few weeks ago. Is free and now I don't have problems to compress or convert files (flac to mp3 included). If you work with mac no more headache, just drop and wait…
But Max requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later.
"Max can generate audio in over 20 compressed and uncompressed formats including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, Apple Lossless, Monkey's Audio, WavPack, Speex, AIFF, and WAVE.
If you would like to convert your audio from one format to another, Max can read and write audio files in over 20 compressed and uncompressed formats at almost all sample rates and and in most sample sizes."

ReplyDeleteCent: Tu ne peux pas t'échapper ton passé !
ReplyDeleteit seems like the Flac are just the converted mp3-files - so the quality of that files not better than the mp3.
ReplyDeleteI'm right?????
anon, not so the flacs are from dime and to my ears sound much better.
ReplyDeletei certainly did not convert mp3's to flac.
if i only had the mp3's i wouldnt bother with the flac.
