On se réjouit de cet alignement d’étoiles du jazz condensé dans cette soirée. Le maître de la guitare John Scofield et le magistral saxophoniste Joe Lovano, tous deux reconnus parmi les plus illustres pointures en leur domaine, se retrouvent pour une tournée internationale, plus de vingt ans après leur première collaboration. Ils ont écrit un chapitre de l’histoire du jazz. Partenaire de Miles Davis, Charles Mingus ou Billy Cobham, John Scofield a marqué de son empreinte cette musique par son style à la croisée du jazz-rock, du funk et du blues. Pilier de la mythique maison d’édition Blue Note, Joe Lovano est l’un des musiciens les plus prolifiques de sa génération : son œuvre atteste d’une profusion créative et d’une diversité d’inspiration rare. Tout au long de leur carrière, leurs chemins se sont régulièrement croisés, une collaboration toujours synonyme d’événement pour la planète jazz. Un concert qui s’annonce absolument incontournable, au cours duquel ils nous présenteront leur dernier album commun, servi par une rythmique d’exception (Ben Street à la contrebasse et Bill Stewart à la batterie), dont la sortie est prévue à l’automne 2015.
