KRAFTWERK "KRAFTWERK 1" (PHILIPS, 1970)

Three weeks ago I got the new Zeitkratzer. They play tunes from the two first Karftwerk LPs.
For whatever reason Kraftwerk never approved an official reissue of these recording.
After listening to the Zeitkratzer LP I wanted to hear the original again after many years.
Here's a link to the release I'm referring to.
And here you can download an unissued Zeitkratzer from 2002.

PETR MATUSZEK - On The Threshold Of Light (1996)

PETR MATUSZEK - Na prahu světla / On The Threshold Of Light (Happy Music 1996)

This is not usual IS avant-jazz, but I think it would be interesting to hear for some people here. In the forefront of the album is singing of Petr Matuszek, combining classical and aliquote techniques in the works of Czech contemporary composers. Title is OOP for many years, as the label disappeared from Czech music scene.

UPCOMING + RECENT RELEASES III

I never would have thought that these great sounds will get a reissue. But as a Buddhist monk once in far more serious circumstances remarked I had to little imagination...
At the end of march there will be a 6 CD-box with all the LPs of the Workshop De Lyon and the Free Jazz Workshop.
Not only the previously released yet rare recordings but also unreleased music - already ordered my copy.

Discovered this CD only late in 2016. But in January '17 I realised what for a masterpiece the music contained is - IMO.
Acoustic bass guitar and piano - recommended!

Ten years and going

Today it is ten years on the day since the very first post on this blog. Of all things, it was about Google self-censorship in China, but a couple of days later there was another one on Marion Brown which gave an idea about the future direction of the blog. The poster was Sotise, our correspondent from down under, but he was soon joined by a couple of others who set the tone in the early days. Ten years is a life-time in blogland. Many blogs that started about the same time are no longer active, but the IS fellows have kept it going. Yes, fellows. No members of the opposite sex which make me wonder if the type of music posted here is basically a male thing. I hope not.

There have been 2558 posts over the years and 30882 comments in all. Given that volume, many comments are requests for material posted here before which inevitably send the regular crew scurrying into the archives to see if that or those files are still there. But as we do not post in print material as a matter of policy, I guess there is a kind of dusty archive quality to much of what can be found here. But that is a good thing.

Anyway, thanks to the regulars for keeping things going and thanks to our followers for keeping us going. Heading on ...

Had this recording on a hd since at least six years - most probably I got it from the contributions section or from Dime.

After the comments from plosin and andycher I checked the files and changed the indexes accordingly.
Below is my solution to the "problem". Probably still not correct but at leat better than before.
Plus I've removed manually a few digital artifacts.
 Enjoy.

Roswell Rudd ~ John Tchicai ~ Steve Lacy ~ Kent Carter ~ Steve McCall ~ RAI Big Band; Teatro dell’Opera, Rome; 24th March 1980

In 1980, the Italian radio programme Un Certo Discorso organised and broadcast eleven concerts with several of the leading jazz musicians at that time, together with the RAI big band. Several of the broadcasts of these concerts have already been shared on this blog. The RAI3 programme Battiti has been revisiting several of these performances recently, including one that has not appeared either here or on Dime. So here it is - it's just great to hear Steve Lacy on such ecstatic form, together with John Tchicai, Roswell Rudd, Kent Carter and Steve McCall, and of course, the RAI big band. As little editing as possible has been done, to give continuity to the actual concert; any corrections to the setlist or other details are welcome.
