This download is THEFT!! I own the copyright on this album and am hoping to have it commercially released - that way the musicians involved might just manage to
make a few pounds in these difficult times.

What should we do?!!!
Is it really John Surman?

whether it's really John Surman or not who wrote that, it's probably best to err on the side of caution and remove the download link.
It's not your intellectual property and you have no legal right to distribute it without the copyright holder's permission, so you're reliant on the goodwill of the musicians and publishers of this music.
this blog is a valuable resource for hearing otherwise unobtainable music and we all benefit enormously from the sonic gems to be found here, but some people might not see it that way...

Does anybody have or heard Louis Moholo's Viva La Black first sextet album ( http://www.discogs.com/Louis-Moholos-Viva-La-Black-Louis-Moholos-Viva-La-Black/release/653094 ) from 1988? Ogun recently re-released his next work Exile, but this earlier work seems to be completely obscure... Anyway, I saw Louis' concert at last year's London Jazz Festival (duo with Keith Tippett and birthday version of his Unit) and it will be broadcasted by BBC3 on January 24.

Both, have and heard. I'll make a mental note of it and see if I can schedule it in the near future.

I too am hoping to get the password for the AMM post dated 12 Jan 2011. I sent an e-mail to the address listed at the end of the posting several days ago but haven't heard anything back. It seems a little irregular to place an enormous file for possible downloading but to then not make the password available. Can anyone help, please? Otherwise, I suppose I'll have to simply delete the download and move on. Thank you.

This is cuppling of Grip and Metamorphesis of Arthur Blythe. Because these two are live recording of a performance, I gave name of "In concert". As this is ripped from casset tape, quality is not ideal. But acceptable, I guess.

i have both the grip and metamorphoses by arthur blythe , truly wonderful records ...i think i posted them here some years ago , and mp'3's were also at the india navigation hommage blog for a while ... i'd be prepared to re rip to flac both if there was serious interest!

Anonymous said...

i again post revised mp3 file. Because metamporphosisof previous one has noise made by cassett player. and i found out order of tracks is different between vinyls and CD. So i removed title "in concert", and gave the grip & metamorphosis. files are still in mp3 and ripped from casset type which recorded vinyls.

Hello, im lookin for some vibraphone records...

Bender said...

Does anyone have James Newton's "The Mystery School"? I know it popped up in a blog a few years back, but it seems to have simply vanished.

serviceton said...

Bender, from memory The Mystery School showed up as MP3s on the India Navigation 'collect-the-label' blog. I will post it in FLAC probably at 9 Grey Chairs (or here). I'm just not sure when is all. Someone here might have it though - then you could get it sooner. If not - it's a 'for sure' for later.

Bender said...

Thanks, Serviceton! Yes, it showed up on the india navigation blog - but the comments seem to have been deleted for some reason.

Could the Peter King post from Boromir please be re-upped? This promises to be excellent but the files have disappeared in Rapidshare...

Anonymous said...

Could somebody have Joe McPhee's "Graphics"? This is vinyl issued by Hat Hut in 70s. Not re-issued.
Though I reserached web, no shop seems to sell this now.

I'd like to second the request for the Peter King post

I'd like to request Steve Lacy's "The Follies" on FMP (now out of print along with much of the FMP discography).

Joel

onxidlib said...

"Follies" is now available at
http://destination-out.com/
for 11,49 USD.

They have now 40 FMP titles for dl...more upcoming.

It's the official dl site - remastered from the original tapes.

You can choose from a lot of formats (flac, mp3 etc.).

Recommended!

slovenlyeric said...

I would also like to see Graphics by Joe McPhee if possible. If it is being reissued please advise.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the ip on "Follies". Didn't realize it was available for download. "Graphics" by Joe McPhee would be another excellent post.

Perry Robinson- Funk dumpling
Henry Grimes trio- The Call (ESP)

Most ESP recordings are available at http://espdisk.com. "The Call" as well!

CD is 10$ and dl is 9$ (mp3 - 320 kps)!

Really would like to hear (again) Karl Berger's "Tune In" on Milestones MSP 9026.

Some weeks ago I heard three tracks from the LP - Wow! - with Carlos Ward, Dave Holland and Ed Blackwell.

Maybe someone can help...

mew23 said...

Hi onxi,
here's a reupload of Karl Berger's "Tune In" (mp3). Not my rip - it was shared at another blog in 2008 but the original post has since been removed.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi there, love the blog, many thanks.
Any chance of John Stevens' Away, the 3 Vertigo albums "Away" "Somewhere in Between" and "Amazin' Ennit", and maybe the John Stevens' Dance Orchestra "Ah"? None of these have been released on CD.

With the demise of file storage lockers has anyone thought or trying Retroshare? I am using it with a friend and it's a breeze to setup. Private one-to-one sharing (though it acts just like bittorrent - more people =faster transfers). If you'd like to try it email me

Yes, there should be a chance for those John Stevens albums as I have all four of them (plus a few more). I'll put them on the to do list.

Thank you so much onxidlib (for Pulsation). Appreciate it. Long time free & improvised listener, but just really getting into late 60's-present Japanese free jazz in the last year or so. Amazing stuff. Thanks for all your contributions. Missed a few in the last year. Like Sato's Transformation. Togashi's Al - Alaph, Motion, Essense, We Now Create, Sketch. A re-up of any would be amazing. If not, all is well. I know you all must be very busy. I really appreciate all you guys do. These albums that you post are so hard to find.
Thanks

Stefan said...

Can the Frank Wrights be reupped? As well as the Kenneth Torrades?

Stefan said...

Sorry, I meant Francois Tusques (not Torrade, don't know what I was thinking!).

kinabalu said...

We have posted both Frank Wright and Kenneth Terroade in the past, but you weren't thinking of those?

Stefan said...

Yes I am, but they are megaupload links.

kinabalu said...

The Tusques should be OK to repost, because I posted them originally. Wright, possibly, as I posted some of them. Terroade less likely, but I have a copy of the album that was posted (BYG Actuel), but it may have to be redone entirely, and that will take longer.

Stefan said...

That would be great, thanks! I actually have the Terroade on lp myself, so that is not an issue for me.
